Beer Week: And so it ends

Well, that’s all she wrote, the fat lady has sung, the sun has set, and 8000 other cliches. ABQ Beer Week 2012 has come to a close with Blues & Brews as the mega-sized finish to all the fun.

It took a lot out of us, but in the end we survived all the awesomeness they could pack into the last 11 days!

Thank goodness, because E-Rock needs a nap. With others working or ailing, he put the Crew on his back this week and carried the blog. For that effort we all say thank you.

Now, he was not alone during Blues & Brews. The Professor Emeritus of Beer was with him during the first hour, and a certain sports-writing-Stoutmeister caught up with them both in the second hour. (Hey, Matt Kemp was in town, gotta at least stop for a four-minute interview, right?)

I could go into lots of details about B&B, but at the moment the memory is hazy (SO MUCH BEER) and I am exhausted in my own right. Hey, 12-game homestands are about four games too long, and this one does not end until Monday afternoon.

So until the beer-scented cobwebs clear from the mind, we will hold off on a B&B recap to share with you, the thirsty masses, our favorite samples from the 3-hour extravaganza.

Until then, a big thank you to all the ABQ-area breweries and their staffs, plus Two Fools and O’Niell’s, the ABQ Craft Beer Drinkers Group, the Babes in Brewland, and just about every other person and group we all met over the last 11 days of beer goodness. We all had a great time, be it at a dozen events (like E-Rock) or just a handful (like me).

Now everybody go get some sleep! You’ve earned it!

p.s. If you still have some energy left, or really need more beer, head over to Marble on Memorial Day. E-Rock will be playing bass for Vertigo Venus at around 3 p.m., providing some great tunes to go with some great beer.
