Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s six breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, and one in Las Cruces also joining the party.

Stoutmeister puts on his serious face to handle The Week Ahead in Beer.

Stoutmeister puts on his serious face to handle The Week Ahead in Beer.

Man, what is it about 2018? First St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday, now Cinco de Mayo does as well. Much as they did with the previous holiday, our breweries are joining in on the celebration. Boese Brothers will be making Micheladas with its TruBlu Pilsner. Bombs Away will have a fajita bar catered by Street Food Sensations, with a choice of tequila lime chicken, chipotle-marinated steak, or portobello and spring vegetables for $10. Bow & Arrow is releasing Rancho Bizarro, a sour red ale, in bottles, with live music and live screen printing, all starting at 3 p.m. Dialogue has live music starting at 7:30 p.m. Kaktus will be mixing Micheladas starting at 4, with a long list of belly dancers performing starting at 7. Marble is teaming up with Savor to offer up four tacos paired with four 7-ounce pours of special beers. Tickets are $25, on sale downtown. Rio Bravo is taking $1 off all beers from noon to 5, with 505 Fridas as the art vendor, and live music from 5 onward. Tractor has a special comedy performance at Wells Park, Lynette and Flaco Get Woke, featuring live music, art vendors, and more. There will be two shows at 7 and 9, with tickets costing $10 apiece. Turtle Mountain is hosting the Tortuga Show at 8, a night of standup comedy, with no cover. Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn will have street tacos all day, a special beer release, and mariachis from 8 to 10.

Also, take note below that Drafty Kilt Brewing has officially been renamed Kilt Check Brewing. Same space, same beer, same fun atmosphere, just a new name to avoid violating anyone’s copyright.

On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Boese Brothers brings back Zeus Juice White IPA on tap and in bottles this Friday. Bosque mellows out with Citronic Sessions. Boxing Bear has fresh batches of Schwarzbier and Common Ground available. Nexus feels springy with Lemon Wheat Ale. Ponderosa should have Blood Orange Witbier available by this weekend. Quarter Celtic brought some Baltic Porter out of the archives. Tractor is feeling salty with its new Gose.

Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn will release Santa Fe Especial, a Mexican-style amber, on Saturday. Over in Moriarty, Sierra Blanca tapped Elcitmos IPA.

Continue reading for all the news that is fit to blog for the week of April 30.
