We know that we have been begging the universe to free us from this endless summer of roasted doom for quite a while now. Guess what? Summer officially ends this weekend. Oh, sure, there is the whole Autumnal Equinox (get your pagan on), but this is also the release weekend for Project Dank: Fall Edition. If that does not scream autumn, then what does? There are plenty of other tasty new brews and quite a few events this weekend. The Crew will be busy celebrating one of our own this weekend, but we will still do our best to cover the Great American Beer Festival remotely. It starts Thursday, so look for a full preview that day, including a list of all the New Mexico beers entered into the awards competition.

Quick News Bits:
We got the news a little while back, but forgot to share that 550 Brewing in Aztec has been sold to new owners. It will be closed for a while until they get all the licensing in place. The 550 Pizzeria was sold separately and is now open, though we do not know if they will carry the brewery’s beers in the future.
Ex Novo is looking to hire a new head brewer. Head to their website (link is below) for more information.
Just in case you missed it, Brew Lab 101 is taking over the ReSource Brewing taproom in November. Here is the full story.
Starr Brothers has opened its first offsite taproom inside Pars & Rec, a golf and social shop located in the Hoffmantown Shopping Center at Menaul and Wyoming. The brewery will provide beers, cocktails, and wood-fired pizzas in the on-site cafe.
Last week marked the six-month mark since High Desert Brewing suffered a devastating kitchen fire, and it felt like it had nearly been that long since we heard any news from Las Cruces. A quick check online found a story from an El Paso TV station, KVIA, posted back in July. The news is not good as the brewery has struggled to find a contractor to rebuild the kitchen, and then has been hit by the double whammy of repeated robberies. We can only hope that things have gotten better and the brewery hits its projected reopening date of October.
