The Week Ahead in Beer: Indulge in the darkness at La Cumbre all week

Stoutmeister will have you covered for all things new in beer and brewery events every week.

One of the best parts of December is that La Cumbre decides to make its anniversary a week-long celebration of the biggest, and often darkest beers on their menu in years past and present. This year is no exception, and there is more on deck leading up to Saturday’s shindig. For today (Wednesday), they are tapping a limited amount of 2022 La Negra Imperial Stout, and will have a few bottles for sale. Thursday sees the return of 2021 Siren Song on draft only, plus a beer dinner at Gather Nob Hill. Friday brings bottles and draft of 2022 La Negra Reserve, plus the debut of a new beer that is listed below under New Package. Saturday will then feature the tapping of the anniversary beer itself, a barrel-aged sour, and bottles will be available. There will also be live T-shirt printing from Screen Kings, La Sirenita and Lords Ov Smoke (welcome back!) providing food, and DJ Gabe Chach will be spinning tunes from 2 to 9 p.m. Happy 13th anniversary, La Cumbre!

New Draft:

Bosque tapped Grapevine Gossip, a “grape Kool-Aid dessert sour,” and Summer in Hallertau, a pale ale. Canteen brought back Falconer’s Flight Pale Ale and added Lemon Mango Wheat. Differential tapped Wet Hopped Malt Beer. Kaktus goes big with Winter Scotch Ale. Marble tapped Life’s a Peach, a fruited hefeweizen. Starr Brothers brought back Foggy Monocle, a tasty oatmeal stout. Tractor has a double release on Friday of Cranberry Ginger Cider and All American Rejects Porter. Turtle Mountain just tapped Burqueño Black, a schwarzbier. (UPDATES) Downshift gets into the season with She’s a Beaut Clark, a winter warmer. JUNO added Weet-a-Peach, a peach wheat ale. Marble also tapped Ginger Snap Porter, because a dessert beer was needed. Quarter Celtic tapped Yuletide Apple Spice Amber. Sidetrack added Red Ryder IPA. Sunday Service Motor Company tapped Killswitch Kolsch.

New Package:

Bosque rolled out Santa’s Favorite House, an imperial oatmeal cookie stout, in cans and on draft. Bow & Arrow dropped Lavaland Zwickelbier, a pilsner, and will bring back Buffalo Plaid Baltic Porter on Thursday, with both brews in cans and on draft. La Cumbre will release The 5-Eyed Monster in the Hopback, a West Coast DIPA, in cans and on draft this Friday. Sierra Blanca has a fresh run of Whiskey Barrel-Aged Stout in bottles and on draft. (UPDATE) Ex Novo released bottles of Elijah’s Old Buffalo, a double barrel-aged pastry stout, at the brewery and at Jubilation. Ex Novo also released Crueltor, a new hazy IPA, in cans and on draft.

We plan our holiday beer run off your blog post, so thank you!! Please be aware that Sunday Service does not have the Have Your Cake and Eat it Too, a German chocolate cake-inspired stout on tap right now, or any time soon according to the server. Stuff happens.
