Years ago, I was scrambling to figure out something to buy my mom for Mother’s Day. I sat down at Canteen to think of something over a pint, and it hit me that her favorite beer, Irish Red, was on tap. So I had them fill a growler (remember those days?) and brought it home. She was thankful, but she did add that a beer as a present should only be a one-time thing. The good news is that breweries have more than just beer to offer this week. Truth or Consequences Brewing has a Mother’s Day Market on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Boxing Bear will host the Mama Bear Market at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Firestone taproom. Bow & Arrow will have their Mother’s Day Market starting at noon. If your mom is into gardening, Turtle Mountain North will host Lulu’s Leaves Pop-Up Plant Sale starting at 11 a.m. If mom would rather you give to a worthy charity, consider the Pints for Parenthood event at Marble downtown, which features live music and more from 3 to 10 p.m., all of it benefiting Dar a Luz Birth & Health Center. Basically, there are lots of options, and you can always treat yourself to a pint or two. After all, what mom wants most is for us to be happy, right?
New Draft:
Bosque brought back Sunbrero, a Munich Helles lager. Painted Lady tapped a beer-name-of-the-year candidate, All the Damn Vampires IPA. Sidetrack brought back Bizarro Basecamp Hazy IPA. (UPDATES) Boxing Bear is dipping into the archives in preparation for their 10th anniversary, bringing back Bear Shark IPA and Umbers Cucumbers Saison. Brew Lab 101 tapped Buzz Lightbeer. Gravity Bound added a new hazy IPA, Mayday.
Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing will release Joe Cross (Dark) Lager this week, a beer that references the movie Eddington that has been filming in the town.
