The Week Ahead in Beer: Howling at the dog days of summer

Stoutmeister will have you covered for all things new in beer and brewery events every week.

Anyone else feel like this is the summer that just won’t end? Well, some good news, as it’s both supposed to cool down (somewhat) this weekend, and the breweries are continuing to thumb their noses at the heat with more lovely autumn lagers and the like. Marblefest is the biggest event of the weekend, set for Saturday from noon to close at the downtown location. We will have a full preview of this festival, one of our annual favorites, later this week. Beyond that, there are a variety of other fun happenings, from album release parties to fundraisers to a talent show to vendor markets and more. For those who aren’t quite ready for fall beers, there are still a few other more summer-y offerings rolling out, as well.

New Draft:

Flock of Moons tapped Rakaunui New Zealand Pilsner, a collaboration with the Worthogs homebrew club. Gravity Bound brought back a fan favorite, Garden Spot, a cucumber basil gose. La Cumbre tapped El Jugo, a hazy IPA, and No, You’re a Dort, a Dortmunder lager. Marble reached into the archives and resurrected Pilsner Burquell. Nexus will tap their Festbier on Monday. Painted Lady keeps it creepy with Danny’s Not Here Right Now, Mrs. Torrance, a bloody good watermelon wheat. Thirsty Eye tapped Nice, a hazy IPA that checks in at 6.9% ABV and 42.0 IBU (wink wink). Tractor will tap Traktoberfest this Friday. (UPDATES) Gravity Bound tapped Your Place or Stein, their Oktoberfest lager. Late Shift released Goldmember, a Belgian-style golden strong. Sidetrack added Das Lager. Sobremesa tapped their Oktoberfest lager. Sunday Service Motor Co unveiled Cosmic Wave West Coast IPA. Turquoise Trail tapped Run Away with a Blonde.

New Package:

Canteen will add cans of their Oktoberfest on Friday after it was release only on draft last week. Ex Novo has released both German Overalls, their märzen lager, and Fresh Hop Mass Ascension IPA in cans and on draft. Sidetrack released Penguin Huddle, a cold IPA, in cans and on draft. (UPDATE) La Cumbre will release Crest Trail IPA in cans and on draft this Friday.

Quick News Bits:

Sad news, as Ex Novo’s Lagerhosen has been postponed until 2025. There just wasn’t enough time to prepare the downtown taproom for an event of such magnitude by September 14.

Nuckolls Brewing has announced that it has 15 more taps (!) now online, so there will be even more beer (and wine) flowing at the Santa Fe Railyard.

Boese Brothers has a post on their website saying that the downtown taproom is closed for renovations until September 6.

Turquoise Trail Brewing, which closed down in Albuquerque a while ago, has now reopened in Moriarty. We will be heading out there once their own beers are on tap (just guest taps to start) to check out the new space.
