Bathtub Row Brewing kicks off month worth of 10th anniversary revelry

Oh, what a decade of delights we have witnessed.

The Tub turns 10. Yeah, we can hardly believe it either.

Bathtub Row Brewing, which remains the only cooperatively owned brewery in New Mexico (and one of just eight in the country), is celebrating 10 years in business starting today (Tuesday) and running through May 24 in Los Alamos.

Things are kicking off today since it also happens to be the birthday of one J. Robert Oppenheimer, and while Cillian Murphy is unable to make a cameo, there will be some Decaheimer (a hopped-up version of Hoppenheimer IPA) on tap. Well, yes, April 22, 2015 was technically The Tub’s first day in business, they just timed it with “Oppie’s” birthday.

Also on tap today is The Fireside Porter, a smoked dark brew made in honor of the old Fireside Bar. Fusion Tacos will be outside all day, and music will be provided by DK & The Affordables from 7 to 10 p.m.

The reason the celebration stretches out to May 24 is that was the day back in 2015 when the first house beers were tapped. It’s a full-circle thing, which our man Reid wrote about in-depth in Bathtub Row’s Look Back/Look Ahead Series entry.

Here are the upcoming big events between now and next month. We will highlight many of these moments in future editions of The Week Ahead in Beer, or in separate features should a full story be warranted.

  • April 29: Jazz Night Special
  • May 3: Española Humane Pet Adoption Event
  • May 4: Adoption Day Part 2 — Animal Photo Day
  • May 7: National Homebrew Day
  • May 10: Tub Community Project Day
  • May 12: Beer Dinner
  • May 16: Kickstart the Friday Night Concert Series
  • May 18: Sunday Funday
  • May 24: Big Bang Bash

If you have never made the trek up to Los Alamos to visit Bathtub Row, we highly encourage taking the time to visit. Not only will it feel quite nice up there this summer, but you can also take a history tour of the town itself, or take advantage of the many, many hiking trails. Then finish your day with a quality pint or two amid some great company.

Congratulations to everyone involved at Bathtub Row, past and present, on the 10-year milestone.

Keep supporting local!
