Book-signing and hike this Saturday in Los Alamos

Not all of the crew is lucky enough to go drinking exotic beers in exotic lands. I’m sneaking in an article during the site’s hiatus to remind everyone that Kevin Holsapple, local author and beer/hiking aficionado, is hosting a book-signing and hike with Bathtub Row Brewing this Saturday in Los Alamos. (See our earlier article about Kevin’s new book for more info.) It should be fun!

Below is the press release for the event.

Cheers,

Beer Hiking Event at Bathtub Row Saturday, September 27th

Join us at Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op on Saturday, September 27th, for a special beer hiking event with Kevin Holsapple, co-author of the new book, “Beer Hiking Southern Rockies.” Bathtub Row and Los Alamos are featured in a chapter of this book, which highlights 54 breweries and communities across the Four Corners States.

The event is free and open to everyone!

Here’s the plan for the day:

  • 10 AM – Kevin will be in the beer garden with maps and advice to help you choose a beer hike route that starts and ends right here at the brewery.
  • 11 AM – Join Kevin for a group-led hike. He’ll guide a short, easy loop that begins and ends at the brewery, getting you back just in time for opening at noon.
  • 12 PM to 1:30 PM – Meet Kevin at his table to chat about all things beer hiking and get your copy of Beer Hiking Southern Rockies signed. Bathtub Row will also be providing rewards for adult beer hikers!

Ready to claim your reward? Hike with Kevin, or take any hike in the Los Alamos area before heading to Bathtub Row Brewing, register your hike in the online guest book at beerloop.wordpress.com, and then see Kevin at the event to claim your reward! The website will be available for you to register your hikes indefinitely, so you can participate whenever you want, even if you can’t make the event.

Nearby Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse will be selling copies of “Beer Hiking Southern Rockies”.

While at the event, be sure to enter a drawing for a Beer Hiker’s Kit, 3-D printed bier deckels, and copies of Kevin’s “Beer Hiker’s Journal”.

“I’m jazzed by this event and the whole idea.  It is not uncommon for customers to ask us about where to hike, and as someone who grew up in the outdoors in Colorado and who loves beer, the two things go together great,” says Doug Osborn, General Manager of BTRB.

“I’m interested to see if people will show up for a beer hiking event,” says Holsapple. “I can envision an annual weekend hiking festival in Los Alamos and White Rock with beer hikes as part of the program. If that sounds interesting, I’ll be there to talk to kindred souls at the event.”

Come celebrate the best of hiking and craft beer with us!
