Fête de la Funk returns for a third serving of it’s sour and funky beer festival

The very best thing about beer is that it doesn’t just come in a few flavor profiles or a handful of styles. Beer, as you know, is as diverse as a Disney cast in 2026. It can be bitter, chocolatey, sweet, funky, farmhouse-y, or downright lip-puckeringly sour. Fête de La Funk celebrates this large section of the beer spectrum somewhere in the middle, just as far away from Pilsners as it is from IPAs. For those who love the sour, the funky, the Farmhouse, and the fruit-forward, Fête de la Funk is your festival!

On Saturday (Tomorrow) April 18th, Fête de La Funk, returns for it’s third edition, this time hosted by our friends and Santa Fe’s newest brewery on the block, Keeping Together.

“This year people can look forward to lots of different styles of sours and saisons. This is actually the year that we’ve had the most breweries participate in the event,” said NM Guild Director Ebbie Edmonston in a phone interview.

It then sees the resident house mixed culture embedded in our foeder wood interstices and is allowed to meld into a finished product over an extended period of time. It features a light touch of salinity from Pacific sea salt added to the mash, lemony sourness from the lactobacillus fermentation, and a light touch of funk from the wood contact. It’s light but complex, and ultimately refreshing.

Every year Edmonston looks forward to this event, perhaps the most, as it is a passion project for her. “I like to see how much people get excited for this event. I love these styles of beer, and so it’s really nice to meet other people who enjoy these beers as well, and see it so well received,” Edmonston said.

Tickets are still available to purchase online through Eventbrite, and they will be available at the door as well. Your ticket will get you a sample of each of the beers, one full pour, and a commemorative glass.

Where: Keeping Together, 2908 Rufina St, Santa Fe, NM 87507

Why you should go: Fifteen of New Mexico’s finest breweries are bringing some of their tartest, funkiest, and fruit forward beers to one of New Mexico’s coolest new taprooms. Brasas Food Truck will be running the grill all day for your gnoshing needs, and as is tradition, there will be a very funk-heavy musical set, this time from one of Santa Fe’s most revered vinyl spin-doctors, DJ Pygar.

I can’t wait to try some these great beers in Keeping Together’s year-round-patio taproom, even if some of the beers might remind me of being double-dog-dared to eat a bag full of warheads as a kid. I hope to see you there! To those who love the super sour, the fantastically fruit-forward, and to those who want the funk, and gotta have that funk! Cheers!
