Your choice for the best beer name of 2015 was Red Door’s Baby Got Bock.

Baby Got Bock!

Yes, Red Door’s homage to a “classic” song was the winner of our first poll. Since we did not add a timing element to the poll itself, we just decided all votes after 10 p.m. MST would not count. Thus, Baby Got Bock proved to be the winner. (We should add it was also quite a good beer, too.)

Here is the full list of beers, now including the breweries they represented. Considering that the usual most popular breweries are way down on this list, we would like to thank everyone for just voting for the names.

Good luck to our local breweries in topping these names in 2016. The new Sidetrack Brewing may already have their top candidate on tap in the 3:10 to Belen Brown.

  1. Baby Got Bock (Red Door) 39 votes

Thanks again to all who voted. This was fun. We will have to do more polls like this in the future, but fear not, we will never let this site turn into a “listicle” page. That’s just lazy.

Oh, and for the record, I voted (only once) for Hoppenheimer IPA. The history buff in me could not pass up that one.

Cheers!

We know what the most awarded beer was in New Mexico in 2015, but which beer had the coolest, funniest, funkiest name? It’s up to you to decide below!

Every now and again in New Mexico a beer gets released whose name alone catches your eye. Sometimes they are funny, sometimes they are simply creative, and other times they are downright weird. Naming a beer can often be a fun process for brewers and their staffs. It can also be a pain in the butt.

Over the course of 2015, our many breweries came up with some truly creative names for some of their one-offs and regulars. Going back over everything that was released in 2015 (carry-over beers from 2014 were not eligible), we did our best to figure out one beer per brewery whose name really stood out.

Now we want you to vote. Please just vote for the name of the beer. Even if you did not like the beer, or never got to try it, that is irrelevant. To further help alleviate any possible brewery bias, we are not listing the breweries these beers came from, but suffice it to say almost everyone listed in The Week Ahead in Beer has one nominee. There is also one collaboration beer between two local breweries. So vote away and we will reveal the winner a week from today.
