A snowy hump day here in the Duke City — slow times at the job, overcast skies, and the world’s worst drivers all add up to the perfect recipe to use a sick day and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes on Netflix
Well, I didn’t get to do that, but it sure sounded like a good idea.
To me, nothing sounds better on a chilly day than a good stout or porter. Well, it just so happens that Marble Brewing Company has their Imperial Porter on tap.
This house brew has your normal porter qualities, but multiplied by 10. Even with the slightly stronger bitter and smoky flavors, this is an incredibly drinkable beer. Just don’t be fooled too much by this drinkability. The dark side is strong with this one. Listed at an intimidating 10-percent ABV (alcohol by volume), this will have you feeling warm and fuzzy with a couple of pints (or one if you are Stoutmeister and I). The porter featurs Citra, Cascade, and Centennial Hops and hits the back of the palate with a smooth finish.
All and all, what a perfect beer for the current Abq weather (sunny, chilly, and residual slush of the four inches of snow seen around the city).
Happy Hump Day folks. I hope all of you are doing well.
Cheers,
Shilling
