Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s six breweries, one in Los Alamos, and one in Moriarty also joining the party.
We noted last week that there might be a few possibilities for some St. Patrick’s Day fun with the holiday falling on a Saturday. We had no idea just how many breweries were planning on taking part. Canteen will have pipers on site at 2:30 p.m., followed by Boondoggles from 4 to 7 p.m. Dialogue is teaming up with M’Tucci’s for a beer dinner at 5 p.m., with tickets costing $45 apiece on sale at the brewery. A live music tripleheader follows from 7 to 11:30 (see Dialogue’s entry below for more). Drafty Kilt will have the Bernalillo County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums at 12:30 p.m., followed by more live music (see below), and $3 pints of Outlamber all day. Hops Brewery will have $3 green pints all night (the beers were not identified). Kaktus has the Red Light Ramblers performing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with a special food menu. Marble has live music at all three locations, plus Paddy McNitro will be back on tap, with a special food pairing of oysters from Savor. Nexus will have its Irish Red back on tap. Rio Bravo will hide special green shamrocks all throughout the property that can be used to earn a chance to draw a prize from a special pot of gold (one per person). There will also be a special corned beef plate for just $9. Steel Bender has a whole slew of events this week that we have already covered for both the holiday and its one-year anniversary. Tractor will have live music at all three of its locations. Turtle Mountain has a special menu with corned beer and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, and Irish beef stew made with Snakedriver Dry Irish Stout, which will be back on tap this week. And, of course, Quarter Celtic is going all-out with a two-day celebration of both the holiday and its anniversary. Irish Handcuffs will be coming out of the cellar for this one.
There will also be celebrations up in Santa Fe at Second Street (all locations), with a special menu, Jordy’s Irish Red and Imperial Stout back on tap, and live music. If there are any other breweries or taprooms hosting St. Patrick’s Day-themed events, let us know and we will update this post.
On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Bosque has more Scale Tipper IPA back on tap, plus One Man’s Helles. Bow & Arrow has just added Denim Tux Lager to its regular lineup. Canteen has more North 14 Pale Ale available, plus Marzen is back. La Cumbre already has Guavarama on tap, while Black Berry Briar will be released Friday on tap and in cans. Ponderosa’s new Triple IPA could be available by this weekend, if Bernalillo County Stout runs out as expected. Quarter Celtic also has Kiwi’s Scull and Mangose on tap. Starr Brothers brings back The Green Manalishi. Tractor resurrects Tupac Red Ale, Blood Orange Cider, and Dry Gulch IPA. Turtle Mountain also has fresh Marzen available.
Up in Santa Fe, Second Street also has fresh batches of U2 Irish Stout, El Gato IPA, Boneshaker Special Bitter, Bonebreaker Bitter, and XX ESB.
