Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, so there are a lot of themed celebrations and beer releases coming out this Saturday in addition to the holiday itself. UPDATE: A whole lot has changed since we first ran this story Wednesday, has it not? Quarter Celtic and Steel Bender have called off most of their weekend celebrations, and others could still call off some of these events, so we will continue to update this as we receive information. Boese Brothers will have live Irish-style music with Bodhran on Tuesday night. Brew Lab 101 will host the Brightburn Academy Irish Dancers on Saturday night. Canteen will have music from The Porter Draw on Tuesday evening, plus bagpipers will be on hand as well. High and Dry will have an Irish music session with the Duke City Ceili Band in the afternoon Tuesday. Kilt Check will have bagpipers on Tuesday evening. La Cumbre is pairing up Pogue Mahone Irish Dry Stout with oysters at the brewery on Tuesday. Marble is throwing its jumbo-sized St. Paddy-O Party on the downtown stage this Saturday, which will also include the return of Paddy McNitro at all locations. Ponderosa will have traditional music Tuesday from Gary Rafferty and Andrew Mill. Thirsty Eye will have music from Sage Harrington on Tuesday night. Tractor Wells Park will host Drag Queen Bingo: St. Patrick’s Day Edition on Saturday night, followed by Paddy’s March, a live performance from a collection of local musicians, on Tuesday afternoon. Tractor Nob Hill has Adam Hooks playing tribute to The Pogues on Tuesday night. Tractor Los Lunas will have Kevin Michael providing the music Tuesday night. Overall, expect a lot of places with Irish-style food and beers in addition to all listed above. Slainté!
Notable events outside Albuquerque include Second Street hosting The Albuquerque Pipe N Drum Band at the original location Tuesday, while Rufina will celebrate the holiday with food and drink specials during the day before … well, the music late at night has been canceled. In fact, Rufina will not be hosting any live music until further notice. The smaller acts that perform at the original location will continue.
On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Bosque got sneaky and dropped Scale Tipper IPA last weekend without warning us in advance (probably so the Crew wouldn’t wipe out the supply). Bow & Arrow introduces Trail Songs Oatmeal Stout on Friday. Boxing Bear rolls out Mandarina Bavarian Lager. Canteen brings back Hustle & Glow Hazy IPA and North 14 Pale Ale on Friday. Ex Novo is letting us know that Some Things Last a Long Time, which is a new West Coast IPA debuting on tap and in cans this Friday. La Cumbre has more Acclimated APA available. Marble also added Rye Saison to taps. Nexus taps Irish Red Ale on Friday. Quarter Celtic will introduce the first in Ror’s Tap 10 Series, an Imperial Red, for the anniversary party on Saturday, plus Irish Handcuffs Imperial Stout returns. Sidetrack recently introduced Antidote IPA and Fireside Lager. Steel Bender’s anniversary brews will include Double Raspberry Dynamite on Thursday, Impromptu! Heritage Cider and Who’s Crabby? Crab Apple Cider on Friday, Hummingbird Pils on tap and in cans on Saturday, and Tangerine Dynamite on tap and in cans on Monday. Thirsty Eye has more El Rojo Ojo available, plus Father O’Malley’s Holy Water, an Irish dry stout, debuts Friday.
Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn rolls out Katabatic Kolsch. Tumbleroot has a new single-hop pale ale, Cashmere. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row has a fresh batch of Mexi Lager.
