Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

Three more breweries have extended their hours and/or days of operation, which is another positive sign of public support and demand for beer. Brew Lab 101 will now be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and from 2 to 7 on Saturdays and Sundays, plus the brewery now has all of its beers available in 16-ounce aluminum cans. Lava Rock will be open Tuesday through Saturday now from 1 to 8 p.m. Thirsty Eye, which just reopened last weekend, is already extending its days of operation to Tuesday through Saturday, from 3 to 7 p.m. Along with all the other recent reopenings, there are actually only 19 breweries and offsite taprooms in the state that are not open at the moment. Not bad when this all started and it looked like most places would just shut it down rather than go with the takeout-only model.

One change that has come down from state officials is that breweries are not allowed to bring beer to the curbside. Brewpubs can still bring food to your car, but for any alcohol purchases, you will have to go inside or at least onto a brewery patio.

On the new beer front this week, there are a few new options to check out. Bombs Away dropped four new seasonals with K98 Kolsch, The R.E.D. Ale, Land Mine Lager, and Operation Single Hop now available for crowler fills. Boxing Bear has Oso Especial Mexican Lager ready for crowler fills and (UPDATE) Chin Hook Mountain IPA in cans. Canteen tapped more North 14 Pale Ale for crowler/growler fills. Casa Vieja is feeling spooky with Ghost Stout available for crowler/growler fills. (UPDATE) Dialogue added a new Pilsner. Ex Novo has canned a fresh batch of Krispy’s Kolsch, plus more Some Things Last a Long Time IPA will be in cans later this week. Ponderosa will have more cans of Blood Orange Double Wit available soon. Quarter Celtic has Dark Pedro available for crowler/growler fills at the main brewery. Rio Bravo put more Quarantine King in cans. Sidetrack tapped Curbside Pale Ale and (UPDATE) Teleporter for crowler/growler fills. Steel Bender has cans of The Village Wit available, plus two old favorites are back for crowler/growler fills with Cinderella Story and Chewie-BOCK-Ahhh! Toltec tapped the aptly seasonal Toltec Especial for crowler/growler fills. Tractor is putting Pilsner #15 in cans for the first time. Turtle Mountain has added The Maiden English IPA and Get the Bock Inside for crowler/growler fills.

Up in Santa Fe, Second Street has more Rod’s Steam Bitter available for growler fills. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row has more Little Bird Blonde available in bottles and for crowler fills. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing has bottles of its 2019 Fireside Tripel ready for sale.
