Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

All of our breweries are now open, inside and out, to 50-percent occupancy. So far it is presenting a fair number of challenges, so as we have pleaded in the past, please be patient with the staff members as they figure out what works best under the current rules. The bulk of these rules are not set by the breweries themselves, but by the State of New Mexico. Got a complaint? Send it to Santa Fe. In the meantime, as a small sense of normalcy returns, it helps to have some of our favorite seasonal beers return. In this case, La Cumbre is rolling out the summer edition of Project Dank IPA this Friday in cans and on tap (huzzah!). There is something about fresh Dank on draft in addition to the four-packs that will fill our beer fridges that just makes us feel warm and fuzzy. Or, our palates will go numb from all the hops. Either way, we win.
Good news in the listings below, as Boese Brothers (all three locations) and Differential return to active duty with plenty of beers on tap. Also, Thirsty Eye reopens to customers today inside and on their patio. (UPDATE) Nexus Blue Smokehouse has also reopened! Check the Nexus capsule below for the new hours.
On the new beer front this week, there some other new options to check out. Multiple breweries will be tapping and/or selling cans of the Pink Boots Society collaboration beer Essential Pie this Friday. Stay tuned for a new story this week. Ale Republic has tapped Hillbilly Willy, a new Belgian strong ale. Bosque tapped Samba Hazy IPA for draft and growler fills. Canteen added Cream Ale and Blood Orange Vanilla Cream Ale. Ex Novo is canning more of its English IPA, Brexit Through the Gift Shop, plus another hazy IPA is on deck, and Is and Always Was IPA is on draft. High and Dry lifts off with Summer Shapes IPA and Freedom Cage IPA. Marble has freshly canned six-packs of Rita. Ponderosa has Mango Lime Lager on deck. Quarter Celtic went a little Citra Cra-Hazy thanks to the Prince of Dortness (someone is trying to win the beer name game). Rio Bravo has canned Perky Peach for a limited release. Starr Brothers once again found Lost City of Gold Hazy IPA. Steel Bender is feeling sweet with cans and draft pours of Peach Dynamite.
Up in Santa Fe, Rowley Farmhouse Ales has bottles and draft pours of Southern Gentleman – Melon and (UPDATE) cans of Terrapin Transit are now available. Second Street has a slew of new brews and returning favorites on tap including Cobra Imperial Stout, Low Winter Sun, Double X ESB, Rod’s Steam Bitter, and Black Shadow Porter.
Continue reading for all the news that is fit to blog for the week of June 15.
To break down each “capsule,” I listed the brewery (with Web page linked), its phone number and hours of operation.
