Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

In case everyone wearing green wasn’t enough of an indicator, today (Wednesday) is St. Patrick’s Day, and the breweries are participating in a low-key way. Ale Republic turned its Parasol Light Ale green for the day. Bombs Away tapped a fresh batch of The RED Ale. Boxing Bear put Red Knuckle Irish Red on nitro at all three locations. Canteen is serving up Reuben sandwiches and $5 stouts all day at both taprooms. Casa Vieja is open on a Wednesday, for a change, from 3 to 8 p.m., with live music from Dan O’Brien. Ex Novo tapped Death to Dullahan Irish Dry Stout on nitro back on Tuesday, and it’s still available, with four-pack cans also available to go. High and Dry is back open after a brief pause to deal with a positive COVID test. As we mentioned Tuesday, Kaktus Brewing is back open after having been on pause since mid-November. La Cumbre has Pogue Mahone on nitro at both taprooms. Lava Rock will have green beer and food specials throughout the day. Marble is offering up classic pints for just $4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. if you’re wearing green. Quarter Celtic is only serving up the Celtic portion of its menu at both locations. ReSource is tapping the last of its Drowning in Shamrocks green lager, with $1 off your first pint of any beer if you are wearing green. Rio Bravo has green beer and green seltzer for the occasion. Sobremesa just tapped Lullaby Dry Stout on nitro. Steel Bender has a special cask of Blue Bullet Stout conditioned with cherries, prunes, and red chile, plus Celina’s Biscochitos has a sweet treat for any pint of stout that you purchase, and Willie Ray’s Irish Eyes are Smiling Cheesecake is available. Turtle Mountain tapped Nitro Snakedriver Dry Irish Stout. Beer Creek has a cornbread Reuben sandiwch available, plus all non-imperial beers in growlers are just $10. Bathtub Row has an Irish Red and an Irish Stout on tap.

We would also like to note that Tumbleroot’s Agua Fria taproom patio is back open this week. The new hours are 4 to 11 p.m. every Thursday through Saturday. Live music will restart there on April 2. Down south, the Bosque Public House in Las Cruces has reopened for beer service only.

As for can releases, Bow & Arrow rolls out Sunbloom American Saison East X Southwest in four-packs on Friday. La Cumbre has a big batch of Acclimated APA coming out on Friday, plus a smaller batch of Electro City Hazy DIPA. (UPDATE) Red Door is standing up for southpaws everywhere with Left Handed Scissors Hazy IPA. Rio Bravo is putting its popular Summer Honey in cans for the first time this week. Steel Bender brings back Tangerine Dynamite six-packs on Thursday.

On the new draft beer front this week, there some fresh options to check out for pints or crowler/growler fills. Bosque has a new pale ale, Wolf Pack of One. Marble goes big with a Wee Heavy Scotch Ale. Ponderosa has some fresh Pilsner on tap. Quarter Celtic brought back its award-winning Prince of Dortness. Sidetrack keeps on trucking with Further West IPA. Starr Brothers reminds everyone that you Don’t Fear the RIPA (Red IPA). Turtle Mountain kneels before Crown of Castile IPA.

Up in Santa Fe, Hidden Mountain has found some Belgian Wit and Hoppy Bunches of Oats. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing brought back Hourglass Imperial Red.

(WEEKEND UPDATES) A few additional beers appeared on tap lists and even one canned offering. Bow & Arrow has a new canned version of Hola Hazy IPA made with Sabro, Strata, Mosaic, El Dorado, Amarillo, and Cashmere hops. Boxing Bear tapped Cassh Me Outside Apricot Wheat. High and Dry added Me Again Baby, a light lager, on draft. Marble tapped Benji’s Toast Lager, which was made with 100 pounds of local marbled rye bread. Turtle Mountain has tapped the Double Mint Peach Sour DIPA and Splittin’ Acres 22nd Anniversary Double IPL.
