Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.
When Shawn and Stephanie Wright opened ReSource Brewing last fall, they vowed to do their part to give back to the community. Whether it was with their Equality Stout, or just through various events and fundraisers, they have lived up to the motto “brewed to serve” that appears on their glassware. This Sunday, ReSource will give back to the four-legged members of our community, hosting their first dog adoption event outside. This socially distanced experience is in partnership with the Watermelon Mountain Ranch Rescue Group, and being a brewery and all, ReSource has created a special beer for the occasion. Meerkat Got Moves is a hazy cold IPA that checks in at 5.5-percent ABV, with 100-percent South African hops. Proceeds will go to WMR. So whether you are looking for a new addition to your household, or just want to enjoy a beer for a good cause, head over to ReSource from 1 to 3 p.m. this Sunday.
As for can releases, there should be enough this week to keep people happy without risking the old beer fridge collapsing under its own weight. Bow & Arrow glows bright with Neon West (Coast) IPA on Friday. Ex Novo brought back the wonderful Krispy’s Kolsch today (Wednesday), with Intergalactic Pale Reality and Bury Me in Smoke Hazy IPA arriving on Friday. Marble is also getting into the 4/20 spirit with Kush Water Hazy DIPA cans on Tuesday. ReSource will have 22-ounce bottles of Troll’s Tongue Norwegian Farmhouse Ale available on Tuesday, though mug club members can already pick one up. Steel Bender rolls out the latest batch of Hop Fink Haze DIPA, this one made with Pacific Sunrise hops, on Thursday. Up in Santa Fe, Beer Creek unveils the fourth of its imperial cans, Prince Jack Porter, this Friday.
On the new draft beer front this week, there some fresh options to check out for pints or crowler/growler fills. Canteen will have Trail Angel Pale Ale on draft this Friday, with cans coming out the following week. Ex Novo has a fresh batch of Where the Mild Things Are on tap. High and Dry has more Hurry Sundown Wheat Ale available, and this Thursday marks the arrival of Disharmonius Red IPA, a collaboration with local metal band Red Mesa (we will have much more on this collab this Friday). Kaktus brings back its popular ESB on draft. La Cumbre tapped more Hell Froze Over Brown Ale. Marble is keeping things light with Peach Wheat.
Up in Santa Fe, things are quiet besides the Beer Creek can release. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row tapped Brown Ale and Primo Pilsner.
