Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

Things have seemingly been a little quiet over at Ex Novo, at least by the Corrales brewery’s standards, in recent weeks. We can’t really get into why, but let’s say things are starting to return to normal. And, by normal we mean the new releases are surging back to their usual ridiculous levels. Need proof? How about three draft-only releases and one for cans and draft. New on tap this week are an old favorite, Easy Come, Easy Go (Bohemian Pilsner), plus a new gose called The Shape of Sound, and an as-yet-unnamed porter (UPDATE: It’s called Follow the Pilot Car). But, if hops are more your thing, one of the best West Coast IPAs to come out of Ex Novo is coming back in the form of Threat Level Turquoise, both on draft and in four-pack cans. With all the re-paving of Corrales Road now complete from the village’s south entry to the brewery, it seems like a pretty good week to return to the patio and enjoy something classic and something new.

There are three other can releases scheduled this week besides Threat Level Turquoise. Bow & Arrow is releasing a second version of their popular DIPA, Goes Well With Queso, on Friday. La Cumbre will have a very small amount of Lager Softly in cans and on draft, also this Friday. The last one will be in Santa Fe this Friday, as Second Street rolls out Zapparado American Pale Ale with a party at all three locations starting at 4 p.m.

On the new draft beer front this week, there some fresh options to check out for pints or crowler/growler fills. Bow & Arrow has Savage Times Sour IPA back on tap. Brew Lab 101 will add Citracide Dry Hopped Cider later this week. Canteen just added Sun Soaked Hazy Pale Ale. High and Dry tapped a new hazy IPA, Profound Ignorance, and a hoppy red ale, Daydream Disaster. Marble goes big with a Tripel. Quarter Celtic added Cara Cara Witbier and an old, award-winning favorite, Prince of Dortness. Sidetrack brought back Railhead Red. Sobremesa tapped I&D Lager and a big imperial IPA, No Stops Until Amarillo.

Up in Santa Fe, Second Street also brought back Atalaya Altbier and two of its past GABF gold-medal winners, Brown Ale and Rod’s Steam Bitter. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row rolls out more DIPAcabra and the new 1440 Flanders Koyt.
