
We promise, the proverbial dam is about to break on some stories that we have been working on for a while now, so stay patient and this site will not be quite so barren in the very near future. Anyway, we’re kicking off the weekly roundup of all things local beer with the return of Dr. Ink Me, the annual collaboration between Boxing Bear and Gallo Negro Tattoo. This year’s version of this special IPA has been dubbed Spineapple Pearalysis, so you can guess which two fruits were added to the recipe (actually, it’s prickly pear, not regular pear). It will be available in cans and on draft starting at Saturday’s Ignite 4.0 event, held at 2505 Craftwerks Studio, which is conveniently located at 2505 Quincy NE. There will be flash tattoos, a hair show, and a slew of artisan vendors and food trucks. The party runs from 6 to 10 p.m.
New Draft:
Bosque brought back Supreme Tangerine by popular demand. Boxing Bear will also release P.U.B. (Pineapple Upside-down Beer) on Friday. La Cumbre tapped XPA, a West Coast IPA, and Chasing Clouds, a hazy DIPA. Nexus has one special keg tapped at the main brewery of 2023 Lush Imperial Stout with Irish coffee, so get it while it lasts. Sidetrack will release Whose Lime is it Anyway? on Friday. (UPDATES) Canteen will tap their Oktoberfest lager on Friday. Marble tapped Simcoe SMASH. The Tatted Bee added Geoffreyweizen and Game On Pale Ale is back. Turtle Mountain tapped Herr Fest and AugTurtleFest, a festbier and märzen, respectively.
(UPDATE) Santa Fe Brewing tapped Old Man Gloom, a dark Mexican lager.
New Package:
Boxing Bear has released OktoBEARfest in cans and on draft. Marble brought back Marblefest in cans and on draft in advance of, um, Marblefest the event, which is August 24. Steel Bender has a new batch of Blackberry Dynamite ready to go in cans and on draft this Thursday. (UPDATES) Bow & Arrow brought back Standing on a Corner in Winslow Arizona, a hazy IPA, in cans and on draft. Ex Novo has a new batch of Workout Tapes by Fonda, a juicy IPA, in cans and on draft.
Notable Events:
Saturday — Marble will celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Heights Taproom with an all-day party, with a special beer tapping (name/style TBA), live music from The MoonThieves (5-6:30 p.m.) and Vintage Underground (7-9 p.m.), plus cake. Yes, cake.
Painted Lady will host A Night of Haunting Magick from 8 to 9 p.m. Scroll down to their entry and click on the link there. It will take you to the main website and then on to where you can purchase tickets in advance. Think of this as a magic show, but with some added spooky parts, fitting for the haunted space.
Sunday — Gravity Bound will host a Block Party fundraiser for the Downtown Growers Market from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be a special beer release, vendors, Zen MoMo food truck, a photo booth, and more.
Monday — Metal Monday returns to Tumbleroot Agua Fria as the Beneath the Violent Obsolence Tour rolls into town at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be found via the brewery website below.
Quick News Bits:
Sad news, as Ex Novo’s Lagerhosen has been postponed until 2025. There just wasn’t enough time to prepare the downtown taproom for an event of such magnitude by September 14.
Nuckolls Brewing has announced that it has 15 more taps (!) now online, so there will be even more beer (and wine) flowing at the Santa Fe Railyard.
Boese Brothers has a post on their website saying that the downtown taproom is closed for renovations until September 6.
Turquoise Trail Brewing, which closed down in Albuquerque a while ago, has now reopened in Moriarty. We will be heading out there once their own beers are on tap (just guest taps to start) to check out the new space.
