As promised in The Week Ahead in Beer, here’s a separate little article on how breweries are dealing with the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon/evening. It’s little because far fewer have announced what they’re doing (if anything) than we originally thought. Whoops.
Basically, if a brewery does not have TVs, it’s probably just business as usual. Thinking of you, Sidetrack, Flock of Moons, Thirsty Eye, and so on and so forth. But, check before you go, just in case they also decide to close early to avoid dealing with people wandering in and asking, “Do you have the game on?” High and Dry has no TVs and is already planning to close at 5 p.m., for instance.
If a brewery has TVs, it will either stay open or close early. The early closures include both Canteen locations at 4 p.m., and Steel Bender will close even earlier at 3 p.m. However, Steel Bender will have all sorts of discounts and specials on food and beer to-go, including on cases (buy three four-/six-packs and get the fourth at 50 percent off) and crowlers (buy two and get the third 50 percent off).
Rio Bravo will stay open for the game, but you can also order giant platters of wings to go, either 25 or 50. Please only do that if you have guests. No one needs to die of the meat sweats while wondering if the refs are truly favoring the Chiefs.
If you are up in Santa Fe, Beer Creek will have a 20-percent-off discount on wing orders.
Bosque Cottonwood and Bosque West will both stay open to show the game. Boxing Bear Firestone will also remain open, and feature a bottomless nacho bar. Brew Lab 101, Casa Vieja, and The Tatted Bee will also show the game, any specials TBA.
If you are going out, please consider using a designated driver or a ride share. This is one of those drinking holidays where too many people over consume and then try to drive themselves home.
And, as always, if there are any late additions to the list of breweries closing early or offering up specials, we will update this story between now and Sunday. Leave us a comment or DM on social media.
Stay safe, and Brandon says go Eagles!
