Remember how last week was really quiet? Yeah, it’s not quiet this week. There is a lot going on, and we are rather impressed by the sheer variety of it all. One of the biggest events is Run with Joy at Canteen on Saturday morning. This unicorn-themed fun run (dressing up as ridiculously as possible is highly encouraged) has both a 5K and a half-marathon. It was designed to honor the memories of Lawrence Joy and former Canteen staffer Mike Thrall, while raising money for his family. Registration runs from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. (if you have not registered in advance, which you can do at the brewery or online), with the half-marathon starting at 8 and the 5K at 9:30. Both runs should be complete by noon, and there will be aid stations along the route that starts and finishes at the brewery. The Silver Sky Blues Band will welcome back the runners with some tunes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Every participant gets a commemorative T-shirt and a pint of beer (or root beer). Those who have pre-registered can pick up their packets at Canteen this Friday from 5 to 7, and your race bib will get you $1 off a pint. Get on out there and stretch those legs for a good cause, have a little fun, and enjoy some beers and music afterwards.
Though it is not officially official, by all accounts, this year’s NM Pink Boots Society Collaboration beer, Tenfold Gold, should be available this Friday at multiple breweries in cans and/or on draft. We will update this when all the details appear. (UPDATE) It’s official, Tenfold Gold is out Friday at Bosque, Bow & Arrow, Boxing Bear, Canteen, Flock of Moons, La Cumbre, Ponderosa, Rio Bravo, Santa Fe, Sidetrack, Steel Bender, and Tractor.
New Draft:
Bosque tapped Gorgeous George, a juicy DIPA. Ex Novo brings back Krispy’s Kolsch this Friday. Harmon Lane recently added Belgian Wit Session. Marble tapped old favorite Thunder from Dortmunder and also added the new Karmic Vibrations IPA. Rio Bravo tapped Hereditary Brown. Starr Brothers rolled out Bloodshot, a blood orange Belgian white. (UPDATE) Ponderosa tapped Sunburst Hoppy Lager.
Up in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row brought back Pajarito Red Lager.
New Package:
Canteen went ahead and canned their Vienna Lager, which had gone on draft a couple weeks ago. (UPDATE) La Cumbre will release Italian PLS in cans and on draft this Friday.
Notable Events:
Thursday — Canteen will have $1 hot dogs and $5 pints of Laid Back Lager to celebrate Baseball Opening Day from noon until the dogs run out. Get there early, but do take note that the first games don’t start until 1 p.m.
Steel Bender and 94 Rock will be hosting watch parties for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament called Journey Thru the Tourney from 5 to 7 p.m. this Thursday and the next. There will be drink specials, giveaways, and more. Speaking of more, they will be bringing back that cult favorite Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich exclusively during this window.
The Bookworks Books & Brews event returns to Boxing Bear Firestone from 5 to 8 p.m.

Friday — Gin & Jazz: Spring Cocktail Edition returns to Tractor Wells Park at 5 p.m.
Saturday — Cask Fest is back at Sidetrack from noon to 4 p.m., but it sold out weeks ago, so if you did not get a ticket, we are sorry.

Quick News Bits:
Ex Novo will be putting that outdoor stage to use downtown every Tuesday and Sunday going forward (weather permitting), starting with the Eryn Bent Band this Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
We got a final update on how the last days of the legislative session played out in our Look Back/Look Ahead Series entry on the New Mexico Brewers Guild.
Kaktus Brewing had an update in their weekly newsletter that there will be some major road construction starting soon on South Hill Road, so they are asking folks for some extra support while that’s going on. But, the good news is it will be to build Sandoval County’s newest and largest animal shelter, and that also means that utilities will now extend out there, which Kaktus will be able to tap into and help improve even more aspects at the brewery (bigger bathrooms, better water resources for brewing/growing food, etc.).
