The Week Ahead in Beer: Bringing the funk, the metal and a whole lot more

Stoutmeister will have you covered for all things new in beer and brewery events every week.

There have been past weeks filled with a wide variety of different types of events and themes, but we gotta admit, this week might take the cake. (Mmm, cake) Anyway, this weekend will feature comedy, belly dancing, weird metal, a yard sale, a funky festival, Easter fun for grown-ups, a certain contest, and traditional metal. Throw in a bunch of new brews, and it should be a pretty entertaining upcoming slate of days. Hey, whatever takes your mind off how much money you ended up owing in taxes, right?

New Draft:

Bombs Away recently added Low Resistance Lager. Bosque tapped Big Whity Style, an imperial witbier. Brew Lab 101 sings a little Laboratory Rhapsody with their new German-style pilsner. Flock of Moons recently tapped Amalthea Dawn, a maibock, and Coven of the Pink Moon, a raspberry Berliner Weisse. Marble brought back old favorite Double IPA, while also introducing Cibola Pale Ale and Gorlami, an Italian pilsner. Sunday Service Motor Company will release Cumulus Haze IPA on Friday. (UPDATES) Brew Lab 101 tapped Fresh Pressed IPA, a new entry in their X-IPA series. Canteen will add Lucky Lupulin Lager on Friday. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row will kick off their 10th anniversary party Tuesday with the double release of Decaheimer, a hopped-up version of Hoppenheimer IPA, and The Fireside Porter, a smoky tribute to the old Fireside bar.

Quick News Bits:

Some bummer news, as High and Dry Brewing is no longer brewing. Crew members who visited recently said it’s almost all guest taps now. There was a shakeup at the ownership level, and while we have reached out for more details, we have not heard back.

Las Cruces’ Icebox Brewing has now officially taken over the former Public House 28 Brewery near Anthony, rebranding it as the Icebox 28 Beer Garden. It is the sixth overall location for Icebox and the second outside Las Cruces, joining their Hatch taproom.

After initially saying they were closing, Box Canyon Brewing in Socorro will reopen April 24. There is still going to be a transition to new ownership in the future, but soon the beers and live music will all be back at this charming little pub.

We did mention an upcoming change in ownership at Sidetrack Brewing in a recent feature, and we promise to have a full story in the near future.

Lots of newsy tidbits from our last Beer Notes, including an update on Lasso Brewing, the new project from the owners of Gravity Bound.
