The slow season is upon us. Again. Yeah, January is generally the slowest month of the year for breweries (and regular restaurants). All we can do is to encourage people to show some extra, or at the very least their regular support in January. There are still some fun events below, and a few new beer releases every week, and of course we have the always awesome WinterBrew going down in Santa Fe towards the end of the month (Friday the 23rd, to be specific this year). We will also be getting back into our Look Back/Look Ahead Series later this week, so the content on this site won’t be as barren as this week started.
New Draft:
Boese Brothers brought back a fan favorite, Double Dead Red. Boxing Bear tapped Bound to be Juicy Hazy IPA. Flock of Moons added more Forever Twilight, their Munich dunkel. Gravity Bound tapped In the Woods, a new West Coast IPA. Marble brought back Oatale, their delicious oatmeal stout. Quarter Celtic officially tapped the delicious Irish Handcuffs Imperial Stout (it had been available for crowler fills only for a while there). Rio Bravo added Barrel-Aged Dunk-A-Chito, which checks in at a hefty 10-percent ABV. Tractor will tap Bohemian Shade, a Czech dark lager, on Friday.
Up in Santa Fe, Nuckolls recently brought back Rail Ale Pale Ale.
New Package:
Bow & Arrow released Snowin’ on Raton, a hazy IPA, in cans and on draft. La Cumbre will release Dortmunder Lager in cans and on draft this Friday.
Notable Events:
Today (Wednesday) — Poetry & Beer returns to Tractor Wells Park at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday — Painted Lady hosts The Crypt Keeper’s Comedy Hour at 7 p.m.
Friday — Goth Night & Dark Market returns to Tractor Wells Park at 8 p.m.
Saturday — Punk Rock Matinee, featuring The Talking Hours and Fit to Burn, is back at High and Dry from 3 to 6 p.m.
Tumbleroot Agua Fria welcomes the Forces of Metal at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday — The Six-Pack Series returns with another 5K fun run ($10) at Canteen at 11 a.m., this time benefiting Girls on the Run.
Quick News Bits:
Bosque Brewing has closed all of their remaining taprooms. The beers will still be brewed, for now, at Marble and sold in six-packs at stores. Restoration Pizza and Smothered, separately owned, will remain in business.
The former Sobremesa location is hoping to reopen some time soon under a new name and ownership. Blue Mesa, from the owners of Cocina Azul, will aim to be brewing beer again, though we will have to reach out to confirm the unique way they are preparing to do that.
Tickets for our favorite festival, WinterBrew, are now on sale. The 2026 event will take place January 23 in its usual spot at the Santa Fe Farmers Market.
