A little over four years ago, a whole slew of beer lovers gathered in Corrales for the first New Mexico edition of Lagerhosen. The sun was shining, the lagers flowed, and Ex Novo Brewing and their fellow participating breweries basked in the glory of it all.

It’s taken a little while, and a venue change, but Lagerhosen is back this Saturday at Ex Novo Downtown from 1 to 8 p.m. Tickets are still available online, and if any are left, they will be for sale at the door.

Part of the reason there was a change was due to New Mexico’s restrictive liquor laws. Downtown has a full liquor license, meaning out-of-state beers can be sold there (it was technically a no-no for non-NM beers to be served four years ago at the Corrales location, which just has a standard small brewer license).

But, since it’s also stupid hot forever these days, the downtown location will give everyone a cooler venue. You can still sit on the patio, of course, and that and the main dining hall will be open. Only the Bitter Nun space upstairs will remain closed.

There will be live bands performing on the stage outside (our friends’ band, No Manners, plays the after show at 8 p.m., so stick around, please). There will also be local vendors selling their wares, plus some exclusive Lagerhosen-branded merch for sale.

Since this is a very German-themed event, expect some German-style food specials. And, yes, there will be a stein-holding contest.

Of course, at this point, you’re probably yelling “get to the point, Stoutmeister, and tell us what beers are being poured!” All right, fine, there are 21 breweries pouring one lager apiece. You can eight tokens for 4-ounce pours, so make sure to use them wisely.

The breweries, and if their lager has been announced, are as follows starting with the out-of-state ones (eight total) and then the New Mexico ones (13 total).

Oh, that lineup will do just fine. So grab your lederhosen, dirndl, or favorite Bundesliga team’s jersey, and join us for a day of lageriffic merriment.

There will also be many varieties of lagers available in cans to go from Breakside, Great Notion, Meanwhile, Our Mutual Friend, and Uinta, so make sure to stock up for the long winter ahead (yes, we are still hoping winter actually happens).
