Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s seven breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, and one in Las Cruces also joining the party.
Did everyone survive ABQ Beer Week? There weren’t as many events this year, but it was still exhausting. Fun, but exhausting. Now it’s just back to the normal grind and we’re quite OK with that. So what’s up besides the usual mix of new beers and live music? Well, the Green Jeans Farmery is gonna be abuzz with activity Saturday for the Jig & Swig Arts Festival, with Santa Fe Brewing as one of the hosts. Local artists and musicians will be on hand from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. There will be live art, craft vendors, delicious food from the Green Jean eateries, cocktails from Broken Trail, and of course plenty of beer from SFBC. Musicians performing will include (deep breath) August, Cap’n Swivler, DaMuppet, James Black, Natch, Naked Foot, Purpetual, Sliptek, The Rev, thmpr, and Tree Gaud.
On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Bosque has a new charity beer, Blackberry Merlot Blonde Ale, plus Center Fielder Pale Ale debuts. Flix Brewhouse thinks Hoppiness is a Warm Gun (West Coast IPA), and also goes to Lightspeed Vienna Lager. Kaktus had a big tap turnover with Stop Amber Time, Maibock, CutBow Coffee Schwarz, Smoove Porter, Grandma’s Prescription Pils, and Paleontology (Lager) now available. La Cumbre’s latest hazy IPA, Sun Fade, debuts on tap and in cans this Friday. Marble brings back an old favorite in Thunder From Dortmunder. Red Door opens some Berliner Weisse on Friday. Rio Bravo has a fresh batch of Oatmeal Stout available, plus Wildcard Weiss, a German-style weissbock, debuts Friday. Steel Bender brings Kettle Run – A Solo Hop Sour back to the brewery after it debuted at Violet Crown Cinemas last week. Toltec has its full beer lineup in place, including Rye Lager and more Altbier. Turtle Mountain has some fun with Tim’s Mom (IPA) and Pech Chilz Pivo 12 (Degrees).
Up in Santa Fe, Tumbleroot sent us their full tap list of eight beers, so look for their entry down below.
Continue reading for all the news that is fit to blog for the week of June 4.
