The Week Ahead in Beer: All the Christmas Eve info in one place

Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s seven breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

Odds are, you have some last-minute shopping to do, or preparing for guests or traveling, so we are gonna keep this one pretty simple this week. On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Boese Brothers embraces the darkness with Black IPA. Bombs Away sneaks in with Black Ops Lager. Bosque brings back a classic in Olde Bosky Porter. Canteen yells Vamonos Fugo for its new New England-style IPA. Cantero hops to it with Black IPA. Ex Novo is releasing Liquid Sweater, a winter warmer, on tap and in cans. Flix Brewhouse gets in the spirit with Darth Malt Baltic Porter. Marble released Dubbel recently, and Spruce Moose is back on tap today (Tuesday). Quarter Celtic lightens up with Galway Bay IPA and Irish Blonde. Red Door looks to the north with Nordic Gold. Steel Bender rolls out Sugar and Spice Los Ranchos Cider. Thirsty Eye resurrects Odin’s Eye this Saturday. Tractor goes big again with Luna de los Muertos Imperial Stout. Turtle Mountain tapped Tia’s Honey Lager, Bailan Blonde, Depravity Barleywine, and Doppel Equis Steinundator.

Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn dreams up Black Thought IPA. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row added Rendija Red and Primo Pils.

Albuquerque metro area breweries

Beers: The Most Interesting Lager in the World, Mass Ascension IPA, Cactus Wins the Lottery, Perle Haggard Pilsner, Aperture Pale Ale, Antwerp Disco Tripel, Enzo (Italian-style Pilsner), Sons of Scotland, Apricot Red Handed, Where the Mild Things Are, You’re Doing Terrific (Gose), For Whom the Helles Tolls, It Conquered the World Hazy IPA, Liquid Sweater, Kill the Sun. Now open at 4895 Corrales Road, the production brewery is already rolling out cans into the marketplace, including the hoppy flagship Mass Ascension. Enzo is a collaboration with Flix Brewhouse. Beers: Hopocalypse Now, Enzo (Italian-style Pilsner), Shelby (American-style pilsner), Darth Malt Baltic Porter. Enzo and Shelby are collaborations with Ex Novo, made for the film Ford v. Ferrari. There are plenty of new seasonals on deck, it just appears that the parents who endured multiple showings of Frozen 2 drank up everything else. Can we blame them? Those songs will be stuck in their heads for months to come. Darth Malt is back to coincide with the latest Star Wars.

High and Dry Brewing — (505) 433-5591

Beers: Special Shapes (IPA), Ghost of a Moon (Pale Ale), other taps rotate frequently. The most recent additions are constantly shifting. That’s what happens with a 1-barrel brewhouse, the turnover is pretty constant, but it also means the beer is always fresh! Special Shapes and Ghost of a Moon are on tap at almost all times.

You can still get cans of Terminally Chill, Gilded Age Porter, Winter Project Dank, and the GABF silver-medal-winning Acclimated APA. Bottles of La Negra may still be available. Cans of Reserve Ale and Imperial Stout are now available, as are the cans of the two new hard seltzers. There are limited number of bottles of Prickly Pear Gose at the Heights only, the start of a new series of small bottle runs out of the MavLab.
