Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

A few weeks ago when we talked with Boxing Bear head brewer/co-owner Justin Hamilton, he promised us that a number of new canned specialty beers were on the way. It’s not like we ever doubted him, but even we were surprised that Boxing Bear will be releasing two canned offerings this Saturday. Murkeles Hazy DIPA is back in cans for another run. New is Bear Mountain IPA, the latest in a series of classic West Coast-style IPAs that previously included Falcon Mountain IPA last weekend, and ChinHook Mountain IPA a few months ago. It’s just further proof that no one in ABQ will ever have to complain about a lack of hops.

Meanwhile, we also wanted to let everyone know that Gravity Bound now has a crowler machine. One of these days they will be on more social media pages than just Instagram, but if you’re on there and don’t follow them yet, well, get on it.

On the new beer front this week, there some other fresh options to check out. Bow & Arrow has a new bottled sour beer coming out Saturday, but as of right now we do not know its name or any other further details; (UPDATE) it is called With Love from New Mexico and was brewed with more than 1,000 pounds of seyval blanc grapes from Sheehan Winery. Brew Lab 101 hops to it with Sienna Red on Friday. Ex Novo has bottles of Blue Ox Blueberry Sour available. High and Dry brings back its New England-style IPA, Last Caress, and also adds Rosa Goes-A. La Cumbre resurrects an old favorite on draft with Hell Froze Over Brown Ale and (UPDATE) will also release bottles of Hibiscus Quercus on Friday. Steel Bender will release four-pack cans of Black is Beautiful on Thursday. Toltec has brought Kolschenstein to life. Tractor taps a Raspberry Hard Seltzer.

Up in Santa Fe, Rowley Farmhouse Ales moves on to Agent Scully – Season 3, Episode 7. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row has more Anniversary Lager on draft. Further north, Red River Brewing tapped Strawberry Fruity Sour Ale.

(WEEKEND UPDATES) Casa Vieja is feeling feisty with Pandemic Punch Hazy IPA. Marble went the classic route with Pale Ale.
