Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

We were struggling with how to lead this roundup, what with no major can/bottle releases (!) pending for this week (EDIT: There is one, see two paragraphs below). Then along comes some good news from the folks at Brewbound. They selected six breweries from around the country for their annual Rising Stars, one of which is located right here. Bow & Arrow joins Athletic Brewing (Stratford, Conn.), Green Bench Brewing (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers (Framingham, Mass.), Other Half Brewing (Brooklyn), and Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse (Sacramento). Shyla Sheppard will be among those being interviewed by Brewbound staff during their online awards ceremony broadcast this Thursday. On the new beer front this week, there some fresh options to check out on draft. Bombs Away drops a new offering, Detonator Dark Lager. Brew Lab 101 rocks out with Grapeful Dead Cider. Canteen has a special collaboration with Taylor Garrett Whiskey coming out Friday (UPDATE) called Accelerated Imperial Stout, which will be in cans. Gravity Bound recently unveiled a new fruited sour, Narcissistic Tendencies. Marble aged some fruited blonde ale in French oak barrels and the result is the new Fruit Stand. Quarter Celtic quietly tapped Gan Ainm Bohemian Pilsner, perhaps just for themselves to drink. ReSource will roll out a new Vienna light lager, Lower Rock House.

Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn is reopening as Hidden Mountain Brewing (a full story is coming soon) with a new lineup of beers, which you can find in the entry below. Second Street brings back some old favorites in Double X ESB, Cream Stout, and British Mild.

(WEEKEND UPDATES) Bombs Away has a fresh batch of Frag Out Imperial Stout on tap. Bosque rolled out cans of its new spiced cider, Cide Bae. Brew Lab 101 tapped the new X-IPA 3.2. Marble has Spruce Moose on draft at all three taprooms. Toltec has its first two seasonals in a while, Prickly Pom and Slim Hazy.
