Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.
Adapt and survive, pivot, pivot, and pivot some more. We are all pretty used to all of that by now, but we still have to tip our caps to Marble Brewery. Once again, they have found a way to keep supporting one of their favorite nonprofits, even without being able to throw a big party. Drink Beer, Hate Cancer was one of the better Marble annual parties, where everyone would gather for a day of live music, local vendors, food trucks, and raise money for Camp Enchantment. Based in the Manzano Mountains and staffed by volunteer nurses, doctors, counselors, artists, and more, the camp is for children ages 7 to 17 who either have cancer or have survived the terrible disease. With big gatherings not on the immediate horizon, Marble decided to brew a collaboration beer, Piña Loca Gose. The beer will be sold in six-packs and on draft starting today (Wednesday) at all Marble locations. For every six-pack sold, $2 will be donated to Camp Enchantment. Good on you, once again, Marble, in your support for worthy causes in our community!
As for other new can releases this week, the hop bombs are starting to land. Boxing Bear brings back its behemoth Sucker Punch DIPA this Saturday at all four locations. Canteen quietly added Citranova and Social Capital Key Lime Pie to its canned lineup. Ex Novo will have old favorite Cactus Wins the Lottery back in cans. Harmon Lane pays tribute to a cinematic classic with El Jefe-Weizen.
On the new draft beer front this week, there some additional fresh options to check out for pints or crowler/growler fills. Ex Novo brings back its take on an amber ale, 1995 Called, and should have a new hazy DIPA, Be a Goldfish, by the weekend. ReSource will tap High on Pino, also an amber, this Thursday. Starr Brothers drops a new hazy IPA, Clouded Judgment, and has Somos Cerveza back on tap. Steel Bender gets a bit naughty with Swing Lube XPA this Thursday.
Up in Santa Fe, Second Street tapped a new batch of ChinGose. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row brings back Cali Common and also adds Farmhouse Ale.
(WEEKEND UPDATES) Late additions to the scene were plentiful this weekend. Bow & Arrow dropped the new hazy IPA, A Thousand Miles from Nowhere, in cans and on draft. Brew Lab 101 is feeling frisky with Sexi Numexi Mexican Lager. Canteen is in a joyous mood with Happy! Happy! IPA. Ex Novo just tapped Pause for Applause, a Berliner weiss made with pineapple and ginger, and will have the can release of its collaboration with New Mexico United, Stay Goalden Ale, on Monday. Gravity Bound rolls out its latest collab with Slow Burn Coffee, Mango Layer. Lava Rock is getting groovy with Lava Lamp Sour. Marble brings back an old favorite in Dupy’s Dunkel. Rio Bravo is in a vacation state of mind with Desert Island Daiquiri.

To break down each “capsule,” I listed the brewery (with Web page linked), its phone number and hours of operation. Instead of “Beers” being an all-encompassing list of seasonal/specialty offerings, we are now splitting everything into “Draft/Crowler/Growler Fills” for beers poured from the taps, and “Cans/Bottles” for pre-packaged beers. All beers listed are subject to change.
