The downside, or upside, depending on one’s perspective, of the NFL going to an 18th week/17th game was that the Super Bowl got pushed back a week. The big game is this Sunday, followed by Valentine’s Day on Monday. In other words, pace yourselves carefully this weekend, at least those of you in committed relationships. For single people, release the hounds! Anyway, lots of events and specials are tied into both holidays, with a few new beer releases, and one big anniversary party is going down Saturday (again, pace yourselves).
New Draft:
Bombs Away recently brewed up a new batch of Ten Seconds to Helles, while also releasing Hazy Chain DIPA v.13. Bosque brings back Driftwood Oatmeal Stout just in time for the Crew’s Stout Challenge this weekend (it was a pleasant surprise). Bow & Arrow will tap Future Desert, a mixed fermentation beer with Buddha’s hand (a rare citrus) on Friday. Boxing Bear did likewise by tapping Standing 8 Stout. Ex Novo will have two special barrel-aged stouts, The Ocho and CocoGoNuts, on tap this Monday only. High and Dry will tap Dream Hammer (Chai Vanilla Wheat Ale) for its anniversary party on Saturday. La Cumbre tapped Wee Bairn 80 Shilling at the brewery taproom only. La Reforma has a special batch of Hi-Wit on nitro. Lizard Tail will release Plateau Pale Ale to mug club members today (Wednesday) for just $3 a pint, and to the general public on Thursday at all three taprooms. Marble recently added Pina Colada Wheat Ale. Red Door will release Otter Exotic (Pale Ale) on Friday at the downtown and Clovis taprooms. ReSource tapped its newest Rarity Series, FOMO Elixir IPA. Steel Bender will tap a half-barrel of Make Mine Perfect, a brett dubbel aged on Los Ranchos cherries, this Thursday. Tractor chills out on Thursday with the return of Sub-Zero Hazy IPA. (UPDATES) Canteen added Goofy-Foot Hazy IPA. Marble tapped Wellfellers Brown Ale on nitro.
Up in Santa Fe, Rowley Farmhouse Ales tapped Danke Dunkel, which was delightful at WinterBrew. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing will tap Palomas Porter on Thursday and Choco Raspberry Porter by Monday at the latest.
New Package:
Ex Novo will roll out V for Vienna and Capybara Quinceañera (West Coast IPA) this week in cans and on draft. La Cumbre will release Cactus Shack Hazy DIPA on Friday.
Notable Events:
As we noted recently, we are no longer listing events with each brewery capsule, but we will always include a few notable events here.
Today (Wednesday) — Bosque Nob Hill will host Trivia for a Cause: Golden Girls at 7 p.m. If Crew member Erin is able to attend, the rest of you will lose.
Friday — Goth Night & Dark Market returns to Tractor Wells Park at 8 p.m.
Rio Bravo will have a Chocolate and Beer Pairing flight available through Monday.
Saturday — Bosque North hosts a Valentine’s Gift Mini-Market starting at noon.
Boxing Bear Tramway will have a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Flight starting at noon.
High and Dry will host its Fourth Anniversary Party all day and night, featuring multiple bands, food trucks, new merchandise, and more.
The Desert Darlings return to Tractor Wells Park for Hops & Dream: The Cupid Edition, starting at 7 p.m.
Sunday — Canteen Brewhouse will close early at 4 p.m. to avoid the game. Rio Bravo, on the other hand, will host a Super Bowl party at 4.
Monday — If you are in Las Cruces, Bosque Telshor will host a Valentine’s Dinner at 5 p.m.
As always, if we have missed any beers or events, please email us at nmdarksidebrewcrew@gmail.com or contact us on social media.
To break down each “capsule,” I listed the brewery (with Web page linked), its phone number and hours of operation. Instead of “Beers” being an all-encompassing list of seasonal/specialty offerings, we are now splitting everything into “Draft/Crowler/Growler Fills” for beers poured from the taps, and “Cans/Bottles” for pre-packaged beers. All beers listed are subject to change.
