Since July 4 falls on a Tuesday this year, this weekend marks the de facto holiday stretch to kick off the month. A couple of breweries are kicking it off in style, as Nexus moved its anniversary party from Memorial Day weekend to this weekend at the original location. Our advice is to go right when they open at 11 a.m. and fill up, and then trek over to Canteen to attend For the Love of Lagers, an epic festival that we will preview in full later this week.
New Draft:
Ex Novo recently tapped Esse Locum, a tequila-barrel-aged watermelon gose. High and Dry tapped Assumed Pseudonym, a “pseudo lager.” Marble added Mo’ Pina, Mo’ Problems, a heller bock aged in wine barrels with pineapple and brettanomyces. Nexus will have Oralé Mexican Lager back on tap this Friday. Quarter Celtic let its mug club members taste the Smoked Ale earlier this week, and we expect everyone else will get a taste sooner than later. Tractor will tap Munich Helles 9 this Friday at all locations. (UPDATES) Bombs Away released S.A.F. Mango and Independence Amber. Marble tapped a new black lager, Heinebräu Dark.
New Package:
Bosque will release Hairspray and Mullets, an American pale ale, this Monday in cans and on draft. Ex Novo doubled up on new releases with Multiple Phantasms, a hazy IPA, and To the Extreme, a cold IPA, both in cans and on draft. Gravity Bound finally went and put Garden Spot, the cucumber-basil gose, in cans. Second Street rolled out cans and draft of Sloppy Sloth Sabro Hazy IPA.
Notable Events:
Friday — Magic & Comedy Night will take over Tractor Wells Park at 8 p.m.
Saturday — Nexus’ 12th anniversary party will be held all day at the original location, with BBQ ribs and more.
For the Love of Lagers runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Canteen. Tickets are available here. You get 16 2-ounce samples and a pint of your favorite, plus a hot dog to help soak up some of those lagers.
Tractor Wells Park will host the F*** DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) Fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m., with the return of Art Fight!, plus multiple vendors, and a music lineup headlined by Red Light Cameras.

Bosque recently opened a new location, The Drinkery, in Santa Fe. Located at 4980 Promenade Blvd, just off Cerrillos and Wellness Way, it will not have a kitchen, but neighboring Dion’s will bring food to your table.
