Rio Bravo Brewing hosts their fourth annual Women’s Festival out on the patio this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. It is in many ways a celebration of community, with multiple local organizations and non-profits present to educate women and men on what they are doing around the state. Of course, as the name implies, it is also a festival, so there will be live music, a craft vendor market, and of course plenty of beer and food available from the brewery. Money raised during the festival will also go to a new Rio Bravo scholarship for women interested in the CNM brewing program. Throw in the fact that the forecast is calling for temps at a much more reasonable 75 degrees outside, and it should be a lovely afternoon on the Rio Bravo patio. Head on over, learn a little, and most of all have fun with a pint in hand!
New Draft:
La Cumbre recently brought back Czech Engine Lite, a delightful lager. Marble gets a tad smoky with Campfire Kolsch. Turtle Mountain tapped their Mexican lager, Por Mi Vida. (UPDATE) Painted Lady brought back Wolfman’s Got Nards, an amber ale and a tribute to The Monster Squad. Sidetrack has Pub Ale on tap again.
Down south, we’re adding another brewery to the roundup, as Open Space Brewing of Santa Clara (just east of Silver City) asked to join the list. To tempt one and all to visit (and you really should make the trek), they are releasing Southwest Breakfast, a chocolatey porter made with coffee, vanilla, and a hint of habañero.
New Package:
La Cumbre will bring back Miles from Cologne, their amazing kolsch, in cans and on draft this Friday. But, if you wait one extra day, you can enjoy Kolsch Service at the taprooms Saturday (check their social media for full details, but trust us, it’s awesome). (UPDATES) Boxing Bear brought back Bear Shark IPA in cans and on draft. Ex Novo brought back Farm League West Coast IPA for baseball season, also in cans and on draft. Santa Fe Brewing went ahead and improved Freewheeler Juicier and Hazier IPA, available in cans and on draft.
Notable Events:
Thursday — It’s Major League Baseball Opening Day, and at least three breweries are going to be showing games all day. Ex Novo Corrales will open early at 11 a.m. to show the Pirates-Mets game (founder Joel Gregory is a long-suffering-but-loyal Pittsburgh fan). Steel Bender will have Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs for just $6 all day. Canteen will have $5 pints of Laid Back Lager and $1 hot dogs until supplies run out.
Friday — Gin & Jazz is back at Tractor Wells Park with the Spring Edition at 5 p.m.
A Night of Haunting Magick with Jordan Jonas returns to Painted Lady at 8 p.m.
Saturday — Run with Joy returns to Canteen at 8 a.m., with half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1-mile fun runs. Dress up like unicorns and have yourself a fun time at this fourth annual event.
Painted Lady hosts Creepy Craft Night, where you can make your own Cemeterrium with Otherworldly Creations ABQ at 6 p.m.
