The Week Ahead in Beer: Brew Lab 101 goes grand this Saturday

Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s seven breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

Stoutmeister puts on his serious face to handle The Week Ahead in Beer.
Stoutmeister puts on his serious face to handle The Week Ahead in Beer.

Many of the new breweries that opened recently did so in a quieter fashion, saving their grandest of openings for a special time. In the case of Brew Lab 101 in Rio Rancho, that time is this Saturday. If you are not headed out of town for the holiday weekend, swing on by to the new joint at 3301 Southern Blvd. SE. They will have three of their own beers and three of their own ciders, plus guest taps, available. There will be fun and games, including face painting for the kids. Live music will feature Eryn Bent from 2 to 4 p.m., and Isaac Aragon from 5 to 7 p.m. You can always swing by before or after Pork & Brew, which will we be previewing separately this week.

On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Ale Republic brings back Blonde and Bug Juice for summer. Bosque has a new pale ale, Coin Flip. Canteen brings back Tuttle IPA. Ex Novo was caught with Apricot Red Handed Wheat, plus Kolsch Me Outside should be on tap by this weekend. Marble is feeling a tad German with its new Hefeweizen. Ponderosa serves up more Golden Grahams Amber Lager. Quarter Celtic resurrects Kill or be Kilt and Dark Pedro. Rio Bravo kicks back with Strawberry Blonde.

Up in Santa Fe, Blue Corn brewed up some Hibiscus Wheat. Rowley Farmhouse Ales has more Saison du Sarlacc, plus Meier (Gose), Thrace (IPA), and Germophile with Lemon/Lime are available. Tumbleroot goes big with Imperial Blonde.
