Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

Consider this a mini-lesson in how this column works every week. First, I send out an email to all the breweries on Monday morning, usually around 9 a.m. Then I await the responses, most of which come in throughout that day. Come Tuesday, it is all a matter of putting it together and then readying it for a midday Wednesday release. In this day and age, it goes a might bit quicker, with all the events canceled and several breweries shutting down. Then there are the good folks at Ex Novo Brewing, who send a Monday update via email, and then usually post a new Facebook update Tuesday, and then again Wednesday, and every day after that. Yeah, things are staying busy in Corrales, with a constantly changing lineup of canned beers. One minute, there is Mass Ascension IPA, and then it is gone. Perle Haggard German Pilsner reappears and disappears. Basically, it is a good problem to have, that the demand is still so high for both regular beers and the many, many seasonals that keep rolling out. I was personally lucky enough to grab a freshly-canned 4-pack of Sons of Scotland last week, and I will thank owner/founder Joel Gregory for that one for months to come. We have to look for little slivers of positivity in these times, and seeing how fast Ex Novo is going through beers is one of the few have found. Cheers to them.

On the new beer front this week, there are a few new options to check out. UPDATE: Boxing Bear will have cans of Body Czech Pilsner for the first time this Friday at all three locations. Brew Lab 101 drops a Blonde Bombshell for growler releases. UPDATE: Canteen has some fresh Helles for crowler/growler fills. Ex Novo, no surprise, has fresh batches of Some Things Last a Long Time IPA and Costume Party Hazy IPA in cans, plus they have released more cans of Kill the Sun Mocha. La Reforma will soon tap West Coast, Vato! IPA for growler fills. UPDATE: Marble will have cans of Rita ready to go at all locations this Friday. Red Door will tap more Lemonade Stand for growler fills. Rio Bravo has Summer Honey available for crowler/growler fills. Starr Brothers will have Bottoms Up Kolsch available for crowler/growler fills on Friday.

Up in Santa Fe, things are quiet for now, but look for cans of Meier (Lemon Gose) from Rowley Farmhouse Ales soon. Second Street has reopened the Rufina location twice a week for takeout, so check their entry below for details, including the vast number of beers available for growler fills (Brew Wallace IPA, made for New Mexico United/The Curse, is one of the best beer names of the year).
