Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

In a world without events at breweries, sometimes it can be a little tough to find good news to share to lead off this roundup besides “here is a new beer in cans.” Digging a little deeper, there are some tidbits of positivity out there. Brew Lab 101 is celebrating its first anniversary this Saturday. There is no specific celebration, but if you want to swing by and raise a pint, they will be open on the Fourth of July. The coast is clear at Casa Vieja, where they had temporarily closed last week after there was a slim chance that a staff member was exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, everyone is just fine, and they will be open this Thursday through Sunday. Nexus head brewer Randy King informed us that they will be participating in the Black is Beautiful national collaboration brew, with more details to come on the brewing and release dates, joining several other breweries in the metro area, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe. Speaking of collaborations, Thirsty Eye will release its take on the All For One Hazy IPA national collaboration today (Wednesday).
On the new beer front this week, there some fresh options to check out. Bosque has Hazy Melon Farmer IPA on draft, and will re-release Pickle Down Economics in cans this Thursday; get there fast, as it sold out in about three hours last time at all Bosque locations in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, and Las Cruces. Brew Lab 101 has two new offerings for that aforementioned anniversary with Citracide Dry-Hopped Cider and H20 Seltzer – Raspberry. Casa Vieja has a fresh batch of Coyote Brown on draft, and the new Zombie Apocalypse Lager rises up this weekend. Dialogue tapped three new beers with Amber Ale, Dee-Lite Lager, and Western Sky IPA. Ex Novo will have a new batch of Foam on the Range in cans on Thursday, while Cadillac Dreams Hazy IPA is back on draft and C.R.E.A.M. (Coffee Rules Everything Around Me) is back on nitro. High and Dry has a new New England-style IPA, All Worn Out. Ponderosa rolled out Mango Lime Lager on draft. Red Door added a little honey to its newest IPA and appropriately named it Vitamin Bee, set for release this Friday. Rio Bravo added two new draft offerings in Bastard Child, a weisse bock, and Wee Light, a Scottish ale. Steel Bender unveils another great beer name with Helles Empty (and All the Beer’s Here), which arrives on draft Thursday. Thirsty Eye has also released La Llagerona Mexican Lager today.
Up in Santa Fe, Second Street brings back an old favorite in Rod’s Best Bitter. Further north, Red River Brewing gets all southern (hemisphere) with New Zealand IPA. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing tapped a lager, Cerveza Gold, and Namakazaka Pale Ale that should go great with summer, but just in case you need a bit of darkness they have also brought back Dark Skies Oatmeal Stout.
(UPDATE) We have added the recently opened Gravity Bound Brewing to the listings below!
