Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s eight breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

This week is kind of a hodgepodge of different little things, rather than one jumbo thing with which to lead this here roundup. First up, while checking on the current beer lineup on Marble’s website, something caught my eye. There, at each taproom this weekend, a band is on the live events schedule. It has been a long time since we saw bands return just for the sake of playing music, as opposed to being specifically tied to a fundraiser or beer release. Check the listings below to see who is where and when, and don’t forget to start checking out other live music venues around Albuquerque. We can already tell you that we are quite excited to go see Red Mesa, The Horned God, and Blue Heron this Friday night at Launchpad. We also know that Tumbleroot is hosting an outdoor concert on Sunday evening, so keep an eye on your venues, too, Santa Fe! For every other brewery around town, if you again want us to start listing your live events, please update your websites or the events tab on your Facebook page.

But, what about festivals, you ask? Well, the first outdoor festival since 2019 is going down this Saturday in Bernalillo. Kaktus is bringing back the Farm House Ale Event, and we will have a lot more details this Thursday.

As for new can releases this week, there are only a couple announced so far. Rio Bravo has decided to Taste the Rainbow, a tangerine creamsicle ale. Steel Bender brings back a summer favorite in Peach Dynamite on Thursday. (UPDATE) Bow & Arrow will release Neon West II, its West Coast IPA, on Friday.

On the new draft beer front this week, there some additional fresh options to check out for pints or crowler/growler fills. Bow & Arrow taps Besos Mexican Lager on Friday. Gravity Bound has a new batch of its Vienna lager, Proof of Life, now on tap. Harmon Lane rolls out Blood Orange IPA and The Sun’s Hot IPA. Kaktus tapped a tasty new Maibock. La Cumbre added Bicameral Hazy Pale Ale. (UPDATE) Marble released some refreshing Guava Wheat. Sidetrack threw some Basecamp IPA into a cask and dry hopped it with Citra for a special release today (Wednesday) and also (UPDATE) tapped Crystal Method Lager. Sobremesa should have a Northern English Brown Ale on tap soon, exact name TBD. Turtle Mountain added Allegedly Blonde.

Up in Santa Fe, (UPDATE) Second Street will be releasing its popular Winsor Trail Pale Ale in six-pack cans on Friday. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row wants to win another “best beer name” award with DIPAcabra.

(WEEKEND UPDATES) Bombs Away brings back K98 Kolsch on draft. Boxing Bear puckers up with Lemon Gose. Gravity Bound rolled out Anna Fest (Kellerbier) and Half Past (Dark Lager). Sidetrack took some Simcoe hops and dry hopped their way into creating Simkolsch. Toltec shines with LimeLight Lager.
