A smooth stout appears in cans, an epic imperial stout returns in bottles, we celebrate the dead, dance to a certain spooky family’s theme, and blast our souls into oblivion with local metal. Yeah, it’s our kind of week.
New Draft: Boese Brothers also joins this darker setting with Soul Stealer Extra Stout. (UPDATE) Bombs Away dropped new batches of Ten Seconds to Helles and Independence Amber on Friday. (UPDATE) Bosque tapped its Beer Premier entry, Burial Grounds, a dark lager with caramel and coffee. (UPDATE) Bow & Arrow released Petite West Hazy Pale Ale and Beer League #4: Paleta Gose on Friday. Canteen tapped its Movember charity beer, Burq Reynolds Hazy IPA. High & Dry cooked up a new stout, Breakfast Nook, while also brewing up a second batch of its Oktoberfest lager, Amber’s Revenge. Marble went old school with Tradition Lager. Nexus stands fast against New Mexico Snow Storm IPA, while a special batch of Vanilla Rum Lush Imperial Stout (which was supposed to have been tapped at last weekend’s Beer Premier) will be available as of today (Wednesday). Ponderosa will also tap its Beer Premier brew, Blackberry Spice Beer. Sidetrack recently tapped its Baltic Porter that also debuted at Beer Premier, and (UPDATE) brewed up a fresh batch of Further West IPA on Friday. Starr Brothers tapped a limited amount of its Beer Premier brew as well, Monkey Knuckle Coconut Porter. Steel Bender will stick with this theme Thursday with the debut of Norwegian Would? on tap. Turtle Mountain, you guessed it, also tapped its Beer Premier brew, StufStuf Stout, plus Byways Haze.
Up in Santa Fe, Second Street rolled out Mosaic Sloppy Sloth Hazy IPA. Over in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row tapped Wine Grape Wild Ale. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing is releasing its IPA Challenge entry, Star Destroyer, a little early for the public.
New Cans: Boxing Bear has a fresh run of Scotch Rocket cans coming out this Saturday and (UPDATE) Metal Head Stout cans will be available, as well. Gravity Bound will be unveiling its first two canned beers in its history, Disregard All Regards DIPA and City Symphony (Fruited Sour) on Friday. La Cumbre brings back its epic imperial stout, La Negra, in bottles and on draft this Friday. Marble is all slick with Cholo Smooth in cans for the first time starting today (Wednesday). Steel Bender went ahead and put Esmerelda Italian Pilsner in cans, and made it a year-round draft offering, too.
Up in Santa Fe, Santa Fe Brewing brings back Adobe Igloo for the season. Second Street rolled out Southern Passion Sloppy Sloth Hazy IPA in cans for the first time.
Events: We already previewed Saturday’s preliminary round of the NM IPA Challenge, and the subsequent VIP reveal party, which will be held at Red Door Downtown from 4 to 7 p.m.
The weather is staying strangely warm for November, so expect plenty of people out for First Friday ArtWalk this week. We are still waiting to find out what Boese Brothers, Red Door Downtown, and Sidetrack have planned.
Saturday will feature the Muertos Fiesta at Marble Downtown from 2 to 9 p.m. There will be local music, vendors, and more in the return of this annual event.
Later Saturday, the Desert Darlings return to Tractor Wells Park at 8 p.m. for Hops & Dreams: The Addams Family Edition. Hey, no one said Halloween-like events had to end with October.
Finally, outside the metro area, we are stoked to see the return of Santa Fe’s stalwart metal band, Dysphotic, which will take over Tumbleroot Agua Fria for Metal Monday at 7 p.m.
As always, if we have missed any beers or live events, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To break down each “capsule,” I listed the brewery (with Web page linked), its phone number and hours of operation. Instead of “Beers” being an all-encompassing list of seasonal/specialty offerings, we are now splitting everything into “Draft/Crowler/Growler Fills” for beers poured from the taps, and “Cans/Bottles” for pre-packaged beers. All beers listed are subject to change.
