ABQ Beer Week: A mellow Monday helps everyone reset on Day Five

Kick back and relax this Memorial Day.

Well, here is hoping everyone survived ABQ Blues & Brews, or the Nexus anniversary party, or possibly even both on Sunday. The three-day weekend comes to an end today with a relatively mild slate of events for Day Five. The Santa Fe Brewing/Tin Can Alley fundraiser comes to an end, while Tractor Wells Park and Brew Lab 101 will host some fun-spirited events at night.

Featured Event

Every day we will pick what we consider the biggest, most interesting, most unique event. This does not mean you should go to only this event and ignore the rest. All of them deserve your attention, but realistically, you can probably only attend a few. So we will make our daily pick, and you can either jump on it, or declare the Crew is foolish (we kinda are) and pick your own.

What: ABQ Battle Decks. Where: Tractor Wells Park. When: 6-9 p.m. Cost: No cover charge.

Details: Think of it like comedy improv meets a TED Talk. The comedians who sign up will be select a deck of powerpoint slides, which they have to give a “talk” about. Sign-up starts at 6 p.m., and it’s free to join and attend.

Why you should go: We could all use a good laugh before going back to work on Tuesday.

All the other great events

What: Tin Can Alley/Santa Fe Brewing Beer Week Fundraiser. Where: Tin Can Alley. When: All day. Cost: No cover charge. Details: Running through today, get $2 off all multi-packs of SFBC beers, while $2 of every NMX Standard and Cholla Fizz poured will be donated to All Together NM to support victims of the wildfires in Northern New Mexico. Julian Dossett Band will provide the music from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, plus there will be a Watermelon Mountain Ranch adoption event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Why you should go: Enjoy a discount on the beers to take home, and/or enjoy a pint that goes to charity.

What: Singo Music Bingo. Where: Brew Lab 101. When: 7-10 p.m. Cost: No cover charge. Details: It’s like bingo, but with music as the clues. Enjoy it with some pints of beer and cider. Why you should go: It’s free, it’s fun, and there’s beer.
