One of those random questions that we could not answer when it first came up was a variation of how will the craft beer and cannabis industries get along in New Mexico following legalization of the latter. Well, the answer is pretty darn well, and if you needed any further proof, head out to Boxing Bear Firestone this Saturday at 3 p.m. for the SWOP Hop IPA release party. The brewery and Southwest Organic Producers have teamed up to create an IPA using the terpenes from cannabis (but no THC) to create one dank brew. To celebrate its release, there will be quite the party with live music, local artists and vendors, and food trucks. The beer will be available on tap and in cans to take home (and yes, you will have time to grab a four-pack and still get to the New Mexico United tailgate party). Happy 4/20 a few days early!
We also wanted to make sure and remind everyone that this Friday is the ticket sale for the United in Beer collaboration festival at Ex Novo next month. Follow the link from the official event page as the tickets go on sale right at noon. Trust us, they will sell out quickly, if last year’s Lagerhosen Festival was any sort of indicator.
New Draft:
Differential tapped Matcha Ginger Blonde Ale. Gravity Bound will tap Moon Tan, a cold IPA, on Friday. La Cumbre added Jet Pilot Pale Ale. Marble tapped Bock ‘N A Half. Down south, Truth or Consequences Brewing will tap Cactus Juice and Abeja Amber on Thursday.

Quick News Bits:
We recently learned that Desert Valley Brewing has closed its westside taproom. Desert Valley had ceased brewing a while back, selling its brewhouse to The Craftroom, which has since launched Late Shift Lager House. Desert Valley still had a following on the westside with its cocktails and innovative food dishes, but alas, it is no more.
High Desert Brewing in Las Cruces is closed indefinitely after a fire destroyed the kitchen last month. They have set up a GoFundMe to help out their employees while they are closed. We will monitor their social media for updates on a (hopeful) reopening date.
Bathtub Row is in the midst of a major renovation in the back, with the concrete floor being replaced so they can install their new 7-barrel brewhouse and other equipment. Their lineup will soon be mostly guest taps, so be patient, and soon the beer will flow again, better than ever!
