There is a Sunday afternoon gathering that might just be of interest to all current and former homebrewers. The Homebrew Equipment Swap Meet and Social will run from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bossfight Brewing, one of their last major events before the farewell party February 28. The Worthogs organized this event with the brewery, inviting everyone to bring down the gear they don’t need anymore to sell or swap with other homebrewers. It’s also a chance for those who aren’t part of a homebrew club, but are interested, to come meet some like-minded folks and maybe sign up for future meetings/brew days/gatherings. There is no requirement to bring gear to swap or sell, just come on down if you’re at all curious about the world of homebrewing. And, of course you can enjoy a Bossfight brew or two, play a little pinball and/or video games, and enjoy a proper Sunday Funday.

New Draft:

Bosque tapped Bacon My Way Downtown, a barrel-aged imperial brown made with, well, you can guess. Dripline will add First Drop IPA, a West Coast, to the lineup Thursday. Flock of Moons recently tapped Narsilion, a Bohemian pilsner. Quarter Celtic added Ol’ Keller and Clean Pair of Schwarz, a kellerbier and a schwarzbier.

Up in Los Alamos, Bathtub Row tapped Centennial SMASH. Down south, Truth or Consequences brought back Orbital IPA.

New Package:

La Cumbre will release Märzen Lager in cans and on draft this Friday. (UPDATES) Bow & Arrow will release Desert Standard Southwest Pils in cans and on draft this Friday. Ex Novo re-released Sumo Suit Yourself, a Japanese-style rice lager, in cans and on draft. Sidetrack brought back Shinobi, also a rice lager, in cans and on draft.

Notable Events:

Saturday — Boxing Bear Firestone will host the Community Swap and Trade from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Canteen Taproom will host another Puzzle Swap, where you bring an old, gently used puzzle and swap it for another, starting at 1 p.m.

JUNO will host Rapid Fire, a tribute to 80s metal, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Sunday — The latest Six-Pack Run is at Canteen at 11 a.m., benefiting Running Medicine.

Quick News Bits:

Kaktus Brewing had an update in their weekly newsletter that there will be some major road construction starting soon on South Hill Road, so they are asking folks for some extra support while that’s going on. But, the good news is it will be to build Sandoval County’s newest and largest animal shelter, and that also means that utilities will now extend out there, which Kaktus will be able to tap into and help improve even more aspects at the brewery (bigger bathrooms, better water resources for brewing/growing food, etc.).

We recently sat down with the new owners of Marble Brewery to talk about, well, everything.

There was some sad news recently as both Box Canyon Brewing in Socorro and Bossfight Brewing, as mentioned above, announced that they will close by the end of February, when their small brewer licenses expire.
