Another ABQ Beer Week is about to wrap up Saturday. After 80 or so events, I think we’re all ready for our long summer’s nap. Don’t fret, the Crew will be back with more coverage of our ever-expanding local beer scene as Boxing Bear Brewing, Pi Brewing, Red Door Brewing, and many others get closer and closer to opening. We also have the Beer Premier to look forward to in June, plus the IPA Challenge has moved up to July this year. But until then, let us all rejoice in this final day of beer and fun.

The end is here. Sad. But there's more beer to be had! Happy.

The end is here. Sad. But there’s more beer to be had! Yay.

Featured event

What: Il Vicino Cask Fest. Where: Il Vicino Canteen. When: Noon to 4 p.m. Cost: $20, $15 for mug club members. Details: Brace yourselves for 15 different, and some very unique, cask beers from the mad scientists at the Canteen, plus their comrades in arms at Chama River. If you haven’t seen the wonderfully silly Facebook posts they have been sharing all week, here are the casks — Farmhouse Rye with Sorachi Ace, Cascade Pale Ale with more Cascade, Maple Brown, Mango IPA, Exodus IPA with Melvin, IPA with Calypso, Elvis Brown (contains nuts, so beware if you have an allergy), Red Velvet (Irish with cocoa), Red Chile Brown, Amber with Yellow Birch, Creamsicle (orange cream hefeweizen), Hopspitality with candied grapefruit, Say no to Scurvy (lime pilsner), Jackalope IPA with Citra and EKG, and Coconut Brown. It’s gonna be a good day. Why you should go: Really? You just read that list of beers and you still need a reason?

All the other great events

What: Fundraising Day. Where: Marble Downtown Pub. When: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cost: No cover charge. Details: Come support some of your favorite local charities by donating at Marble. Oh, yeah, and you can enjoy some beer and other fun events. Why you should go: Help a good cause and get a beer. Plus, you can atone for your many sins during Beer Week (assuming you had any).

What: Beer Breakfast. Where: The Stumbling Steer. When: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost: Unknown. Details: Feast on some good food and have a beer or two. The hair of the dog can do wonders sometimes. Why you should go: You will have enough time to get to Cask Fest, and it’s never a bad idea to go drinking with a full (or close to full) stomach.

What: Magic Hat Tasting. Where: Total Wine Uptown and Cottonwood. When: Noon to 3 p.m. (Uptown), 4 to 6 p.m. (Cottonwood). Cost: No cover charge. Details: Check out of some of Magic Hat’s many offerings at either Total Wine location. Figure out which is your favorite and by a six-pack to take home. Why you should go: If you’ve never had Magic Hat’s off-the-wall beers before, this is your chance.

What: Harviestoun Special Tapping. Where: Two Fools Tavern. When: 4 to 8 p.m. Cost: No cover charge. Details: The final special tapping at Two Fools features Old Engine Oil, a Scottish beer that just sounds mean and burly, like a Celtic fan headed to a match with Rangers (yes, a soccer reference; yes, I know Rangers was relegated due to bankruptcy, but someday the Old Firm rivalry will resume). Why you should go: Who isn’t curious to try a beer with a name like Old Engine Oil?

Enjoy Day Ten! Just remember to pace yourselves and be responsible. Myself, Mrs. Solo, and Brandon will be at Cask Fest. Stop by and say hello if you see us.
