T-minus two months and counting until the fun begins again.

The schedule gods have finally smiled upon us. Well, me at least, as this year ABQ Beer Week has eight of its 11 days not conflicting with Isotopes games. Dear lord, I can actually attend events without having any minor-league managers shaking their heads at me. Instead, I’ll just have my mother to do that. It’s tradition.

So while talking about ABQ Beer Week, it never hurts to peruse the initial schedule of events. More events will be added, as one can see from the lack of events at Two Fools, Sister, O’Niell’s, and other sites where we know things will be going down from May 21-31. Consider this an early-early-early preview, highlighting one event per day.

May 21: Beer, Cheese, & More at Marble. This annual event combines some tasty food with Marble’s great beers at the downtown pub. Buy your tickets in advance via Marble’s website, as it almost always sells out. (Also: Beer Week Dinner at Chama River, Oude Orval special tapping at Shade Tree)

May 22: Beer and Bowling at Silva Lanes. Tractor’s beers will be poured up at Silva Lanes, where friend of the Crew Hesh really, really likes to go sing karaoke. Sometimes dressed like a viking. We’ll see if we can get him to do that for this event, too. (Also: Mother Road sampling at Jubilation, Deschutes special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 23: The Harwood’s Annual Fundraiser at Marble. A portion of all proceeds this day will go to support the Harwood Art Center. Drink beer for a good cause. (Also: Beer & Boards at Tractor Wells Park, Ska special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 24: Blues & Brews at Sandia Casino. The big festival is back with 50-plus breweries (all TBD). (Also: Old World/New World Lunch and a Movie at Shade Tree, Bike and Brew Tour)

May 25: Battle of the Beer Geeks at Tractor Wells Park. As if we don’t have to remind you all, again, that we won this last year, but this time around we’re unleashing Darkside Donutbrau! Join us and the other beer groups here in town to see what they will be sending up against us this year. (Also: Brews and Food Truck Battle at Red Door, Avery special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 26: Lagunitas Firkin Tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill. What’s this? A firkin of a secret Lagunitas beer on tap here in ABQ? We’ll definitely have to check this one out. (Also: Music For What ALES You at Tractor Wells Park, Santa Fe sampling at Total Wine Uptown)

May 27: Beer, Cheese, & More at Marble Westside Taproom. If you missed the first event downtown, here is your second chance. (Also: Tractor Special Beer Release at M’Tucci’s Kitchina Italian Restaurant, Art Fight at Tractor Wells Park)

May 28: Plum Saison release at Chama River. Brewer Zach Guilmette was excited about this upcoming beer when I talked to him recently. It will be one of many saison beers this year at Chama. (Also: pLOUD Music Series at Tractor Wells Park, Odell special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 29: Firkin Friday at both Marble locations. Brewer Josh Trujillo and his staff will be busting out some awesome casks downtown and on the Westside. All beers are TBD. (Also: Green Flash special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 30: Goose Island Bourbon County Stout release at Shade Tree. Based on how quickly the sale of this beer went last year, we imagine this one will be packed. Arrive early. (Also: Cider Day/Night Fever at Tractor Nob Hill, Stone special tapping at Nob Hill Bar & Grill)

May 31: It’s too hard to pick one of these three events. There is a Belgian Beer and Cheese Pairing at Shade Tree. The Joe S. Sausage Sunday Sampler will be available at Marble downtown. There will be a screening of the movie “Blood Sweat and Beer” at Tractor Wells Park. (Also: Bike and Beer Tour, Marble sampling at both Total Wine locations)

As noted before, this list is subject to change, especially with more events to be added. We will have a lot more on Beer Week as May draws ever closer.
