Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s six breweries, one in Los Alamos, and one in Moriarty also joining the party.
All of us in the Crew get to meet and talk with brewers from around the region on an almost weekly basis. For most people, though, brewers are just names and faces in the crowd. Among our local breweries, Marble has certainly stepped up in helping its customers get to know its brewers. This Saturday, Marble is hosting a Brewer’s Brunch at the Westside taproom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Up to 24 people, at $25 per ticket, can join in on the fun. Artisan Valley Smokehouse will cater the food. There will be a special fruit-infused cask of Double White, too. The meal includes two 10-ounce pours of beer and you can take your pick of anything on tap. Tickets are available only at the taproom, so head on over and pick yours up. Then just think of everything you have ever wanted to ask a Marble brewer. We promise, they are good dudes, and will do their best to answer each and every question. They put up with us, right?
Sidetrack has its big Second Anniversary celebration this Saturday. We will have a lot more on it with the Look Back/Look Ahead Series article this week, but let it be know that Sidetrack will have Single Barrel Stout and Locomotive Breath IPA on tap. There will also be Pub Ale with Earl Grey Tea and Locomotive dry hopped with Simcoe on cask. Woots!
On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Bosque brings back an old favorite in the Old Man Jameson. Canteen resurrects its hazy Tuttle IPA, while Laid Back Lager is back on tap to coincide with its arrival in six-pack cans. Kaktus goes big with a batch of Imperial Stout. La Cumbre is releasing Siberian Silk, its delicious Baltic porter, in cans and on tap this Friday. Marble has Nitro Pub Ale on tap at the Heights taproom. Ponderosa has its own Russian Imperial Stout now available. Quarter Celtic gets hopping with a fresh batch of Clark IPA, plus Test Batch #1 is a new IPA made for the National IPA Challenge. Rio Bravo gets fresh and funky with Blueberry Mint Gose. The 377 taps Plum Cherry Sour, Imperial Cream Ale, and BBA, a dark lager with coffee, cocoa, and vanilla. Tractor rolls out a trifecta of tastiness with Kahlua Porter, Oud Bruin, and Ghost Ranch IPA.
Up in Santa Fe, there have been no new additions since last week.
