The Week Ahead in Beer: Multiple breweries step up to help doggos

Stoutmeister will have you covered for all things new in beer and brewery events every week.

Love dogs? We sure do. We love them just about everywhere, but it’s a little extra fun seeing them enjoying brewery patios alongside their humans. This Sunday will feature a new event called Adopt the Block, where four breweries and two distilleries along First and Second streets will all have dog adoption setups from Animal Humane, Watermelon Mountain Ranch, and more. The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. with the tagline “every dog deserves a happy hour.” Yeah, the cute overwhelms. The participating breweries are Dripline, JUNO, Marble, and Rio Bravo, alongside Hollow Spirits and Still Spirits. So if you love dogs, but don’t have one, or maybe you want a second one (we won’t judge), head on down to one of your favorite spots and enjoy a pint or a cocktail and see if there is a furry friend ready for you to take home. If we learn any more details beyond what was on the poster that Dripline shared, we will add to this intro.

New Draft:

Boese Brothers tapped Peach Wheat. Bosque added Extra Especial, a Mexican lager, and SOP, a new double IPA. Ponderosa tapped a new Pale Ale. Thirsty Eye recently added What’s-a Matcha You, a green tea lager, and they will have a new version of Odin’s Monocle available Friday. (UPDATES) Canteen will release Haze the Day on Friday. Quick News Bits:

If we hear of any fundraisers through Downshift or Lost Hiker to help Ruidoso through this latest round of terrible flash floods, we will post those here and on social media. A big kudos to the staff at Downshift Riverside for letting people take shelter there from the storm and rushing waters. It was from inside that location where the now infamous video of the house being washed down the raging river was filmed.

Boxing Bear has a special on four-packs of El Sombearo and Featherweight Session IPA, with those going for $9.99.

In case you missed it, Vision City Brewstillery has rebranded as Calavida Cantina. While we await an interview to ask them about the name change, it is reflected in the listings below.

Flix Brewhouse has opened their second location on the east side near Indian School and Tramway. We are still hoping have a more in-depth look at this second theater’s brewery setup in the near future.

    Dear Dark Side,

Could you offer any insights to developments at the previous Boese Brothers downtown Albuquerque location?

CABQ has scheduled a license hearing on August 14th for Lasso Brewing Company at 601 Gold Ave. SW.

    Thanks,

    J.S.

So the owners of Gravity Bound are taking over the taproom out front. They and the Boese owners are sharing the brewery area in the back.
