Greetings, New Mexico craft beer lovers. Stoutmeister here with The Week Ahead in Beer. This column covers all the breweries in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, with Santa Fe’s seven breweries, one in Los Alamos, one in Moriarty, one in Red River, one in Silver City, and one in Truth or Consequences also joining the party.

A quartet of local breweries will be setting up shop at the Corrales Harvest Festival this weekend, one of many events going on around the metro area. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 to 5 on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased in advance online for just $10. Breweries pouring in the beer garden are Boxing Bear, Ex Novo, Kaktus, and Steel Bender. There will be live music and games. If you fear a traffic jam in Corrales, you can also stop by Boxing Bear for a Harvest Pop-up Market from 11 to 5 on Saturday, featuring vendors, food trucks, beer, music, and more. Before that on Friday, Rio Bravo is hosting the Splash & Dash Launch Party for the official beer of the upcoming Balloon Fiesta. That kicks off at 4 p.m. with the release of this special pale ale, which will cover in greater detail in a future story. Over at Thirsty Eye on Saturday, the second Skal! A Viking Themed Event kicks off at 5 with vendors, dancers, musicians, a costume contest, and more with the theme of, well, you get it. Finally, since one of our friends is in the band, stop by Tractor Wells Park on Saturday night at 8 for The High Desert Playboys CD Release Party. They should hopefully still be playing after the New Mexico United game ends.

On the new beer front this week, there are a few options to check out. Black Snout goes deep with Hail Mary SMASH. Bombs Away heads south with TropiKolsch. Bosque teamed up with Rebel Donut for a new hazy IPA called A-Dough-Rebel. Bow & Arrow gets into the haze as well with Desert State IPA on Friday. Boxing Bear releases cans of DDH Simcoe Albu-Murky Hazy IPA on Saturday. Canteen has a double release on Friday of Copper Vaughn (Altbier) and Social Capital Kettle Sour with pineapple, coconut, and basil. Cantero gets metal with Brutal Radler. La Cumbre kicks back with Lazy Sunday Session IPA and Lager Softly Zwickelbier, plus Wet Hopped Elevated IPA returns in cans on Friday. La Reforma goes dark with Mexican Chocolate Stout. Lava Rock rolls out Pinche Pilz and Metamorphic Brut IPA. Marble added three new German-style brews at last week’s Marblefest and all are now on tap, including the title beer, Schwarzbier, and Bier, a light lager. Quarter Celtic gets into the season with Spezial Festbier. Steel Bender parties hard with the return of Oktoberfiesta on Thursday. Thirsty Eye debuts Odin’s Eye, a Sahti-style beer in honor of its aforementioned Saturday event. Toltec should have Wet Hop Cascade and Oktoberfest by the weekend. Tractor tapped the first recipe from new head brewer Mick Hahn, Accessory Pale Ale.

Up in Santa Fe, Rowley Farmhouse Ales has more Thrace IPA, plus Agent Orange – Apple Brandy and Germophile – Petit Verdot. Second Street added Saison and Vienna Country Lager. Down in Truth or Consequences, T or C Brewing goes big with Equinoxe Biere de Garde on Thursday.
