The North American Brewers Association announced the winners of the annual NABA on Saturday, and four Albuquerque area breweries earned a combined eight medals.
Bow & Arrow, Boxing Bear, Nexus, and Sobremesa added some new hardware, all either bronze or silver medals.
Sobremesa earned three medals, claiming a silver for Atrisco Amber in the American-Style Amber Ale category, and bronze medals for the Baltic Porter in the Baltic-Style Porter category and for I&D Lager in the American-Style Amber Lager. As per their last update, all three beers are currently on tap, but double check on the Baltic Porter.
Boxing Bear grabbed a silver for Chocolate Milk Stout in the Sweet Stout category, and a bronze for Moving on Up Lager in the American-Style Standard or Premium Lager category. Both beers should still be available on tap and in cans, but check on Moving on Up.
Nexus snagged a silver for Beam Me Up (Higher) Scotty, which also recently earned a silver at the World Beer Cup. This one came in the English-Style Old Ale category. Nexus also took a bronze for Class M Marzen in the Marzen-Oktoberfest Lager category. The Beam Me Up is on tap at both locations, while Class M is only on tap at the Blue Smokehouse.
Bow & Arrow rounded out the awards with a bronze for Foederland in the Traditional Beers with Brettanomyces. It is available at the brewery.
Congrats to all the winners! Now back to waiting for my connecting flight at Chicago’s Midway Airport (and a tip of the cap to Nexus head brewer Randy King for letting the Crew know about the awards).
Keep supporting local!
