Stoutmeister here with the recap of round three of the IPA Challenge on Friday night, with E-Rock sending the info down from Santa Fe Brewing. The big news is that Blue Corn’s Resurgence has seized control of the competition with Saturday’s big final round at Marble’s downtown pub looming.
The good news is 100 voters, E-Rock included, showed up at SFBC, topping the 92 at High Desert a week ago and well ahead of the measly 24 at Taos Mesa last Saturday. All told, 216 votes have now been cast in this year’s IPA Challenge and Saturday could easily double that total.
Blue Corn has opened up that big lead by tallying 30 votes on Friday, giving it 60 total for the competition. There is a pack right behind Resurgence with five breweries within four votes of each other.
Here are the totals from Friday:
Blue Corn — 30 votes
Chama River and Second Street — 16
Santa Fe — 9
Tractor — 7
Marble — 6
Il Vicino and La Cumbre — 5
High Desert and Three Rivers — 2
Bosque and Taos Mesa — 1
Broken Bottle and Turtle Mountain — 0
So the overall totals now look like this.
1. Blue Corn — 60
2. (tie) Chama River and Second Street — 21
4. Turtle Mountain — 19
5. Il Vicino — 18
6. Santa Fe — 17
7. (tie) Bosque and La Cumbre — 11
9. Marble — 10
10. Tractor — 9
11. (tie) Broken Bottle, High Desert, and Three Rivers — 8
14. Taos Mesa — 5
E-Rock said he cast his own vote for Tractor, with Marble a close second.
